Car written off, what next?
Discussion
Our insurance company is 99% certain our Civic is going to be written off. They're just waiting for the official garage estimate to come through. So what next?
As a guide the Civic was a 2006 1.8 ES model with panoramic sunroof and a few toys. We were very happy with it but my wife wants to see what else is out there. We'll have around 6k to spend.
The new car must seat 4 in comfort, be petrol as we don't do the miles for diesel, do a real world 35mpg, be safe as it will be the main family car, and reliable as I can't abide cars with niggles.
So PH, what say you?
Cheers, Pete.
Ps, I'd love 5 series but she who must be obeyed says it's too big. And I have my weekend toy so can't push it too much.

First you need to negotiate the settlement figure on your existing car... start looking on Autotrader/PH classifieds etc for cars which are the same year/model/spec as yours, so you have some backup to show the actual market price for your car, and reject any lowball offers they try and give you.
