MK4 Fiesta 1.25 CVT Gearbox Replacement?
Discussion
Hi I hope somebody can help, my old man recently bought a R-Reg MK4 CVT automatic 1.25 Fiesta and within a few days the gearbox self destructed. Doing a bit of research points towards these gearboxes being a bit s
t...
I towed it to the local mechanic he has used for years and he took the gearbox sump off and a load of metal fell out. Not very good.
I've scoured ebay and phoned my local breakers and they don't have any. Is this gearbox a particularly rare one?
He's really keen on the car (only done 45k) so I would like to fix it up if possible.
Does anyone know if any other gearboxes fit? Or am I looking at getting this one rebuilt?
If being rebuilt is the best option, does anyone know a rough estimate? I know that's difficult to say without opening the gearbox but by the sounds of it the whole lot is scrap apart from the casing.
Personally I would scrap the car but I think he wants to save it.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Cheers
