Current car and the last 2 cars I have owned have all had stop start button. I have instantly turned this off everytime. Its 2nd nature. So much so a friend had a merc c class courtesy car the last couple of weeks and everytime I saw the ECO start stop button glowing I had to turn it off.
It is also incredibly rare I don't then hit sport mode rather than regular D in an auto.
This time of year also heated seat will get pushed and then reverse off the driveway.

Does anyone have a bit of a routine?

Put phone on charge, stick the face on the radio and at this time of year try to figure out if any big waterfalls are going to land on me when the car moves.

I never get people that turn the start/stop thing off. Never been a issue for me.

In fact I drove a Punto that did it and when it stopped I just knocked it into first so all I needed to do was press the clutch to get moving again.

Get in, try and put the key in the ignition, realise im such a mong as the car has a "power" button (im used to driving my van every day with a conventional ignition)

Whack radio on, turn off the 9 million degree setting on the heaters after mrs has been in the car, and drive off.

Me neither. I don't understand what the problem is.

I've had my F11 BMW programmed so that it remembers the last state of stop/start.

This way it will remember that I have turned it off and it stays off!

Gets on my nerves and as I live in a rural area I am stationary in traffic very infrequently but if I leave it on, it will turn the engine off for a second or two at the most inappropriate moments (ie waiting a few seconds at a roundabout).

Yes go to a pull away at a T junction and your engine is off.

I just do not like it one bit.

How much is it to get it programmed so its permanently off?

BMW garages can't do it. I found a bloke on a BMW forum who did it for me for some beer tokens. He also added a couple of other things that are just a default on/off change into the BM software.

I think it can be done on the F10/11‘s and the new 3 series and is quite common (ish) on the forums.

The problem is in cold or hot weather you lose the constant temperature or cold or heat.

By switching stop/start off?

I can't say that the Merc system causes me any problems when I want to move away from a junction or roundabout.

Bit of a simple one for me, fire it up (nothing fancy, starts with a key), put the heated windscreen on if needed (worth every penny) and hi hooo!

Not in mine, the air con stays on with the engine off and the heater doesn't lose any appreciable output waiting at a junction.

QP. Foot on brake. Turn key to set. Wait 8-10 seconds for car to check its systems and for warning lights to cancel. Fire up the engine, press button to switch from auto to manual. Press second button to go into sport. Flip paddle into first. Drive away.

Curse Maserati for not allowing me to set "manual & sport" as the start up default. curse
