Failure of Trident Iceni
Discussion
Quote from PH story;
"Actually the company could have started making and selling Icenis part-way through the development process in the same way that some other specialist sports car companies have done, but Eric Broadley decided against it, not wanting to sell customers cars that he wasn’t entirely happy with."
TVR and Moleskins please take note!

er....I think they did. Thats why the Sagaris and Typhon was delayed and Tuscan IIs are only just hitting the showrooms now. Reports are of far better quantity - might even take a trip up to Glenvarigill in Perth where one has meant to have been delivered.
You really don't like this take-over do you? Even with reports of better quality, better morale and everyone in the dealer network I've spoken to seeming very positive you still seem fairly unhappy. Even Ben's back! Lighten up.
You still don't seem to have come to terms with the alternative.....

PS I'm also not keen on the repeated use of 'Moleskins'. Never met the bloke, but in my view he 'saved' [i.e. baled out] TVR, so deserves a bit more respect than a piss-take nickname.
Willie, Read the questions for TVR thread - even PetrolTed implies it sounds like chaos.
Ben's seems a nice bloke, when I have met him & he certainly knows the company - as it was - but I am not really a fan of how he ran PR in the Wheeler era.
Glad to hear the Tuscan 2 is better quality - wouold not have been very difficult though would it?

This is a company going through significant change - I don't think anyone should have expected anything other than plans, changed plans, changed changed plans until things settle down. I have been involved directly and indirectly with a number of business that have changed hands and things ARE chaotic until things settle down. And in these cases the last thing folks would be wanting to do is to publish what is actually going on, as the whole thing is in a state of flux.
The 'Questions for TVR' thread is Brian's, and irrespective of the tone you read into it, Brian knows a fair bit of what is going on (and I've gather a fair bit too
) and is, I'm pretty sure, very positive about the direction. Hell, he's ordered a Sagaris so he can't be that divorced from what is going on.
Why, precicely, should TVR tell you, me, or anyoone else what is going on until it is finalised? I don't recall any customers/enthusiasts being consulted during any other car-related business deals. I don't remember being advised in advance of Ford buying Jaguar, or being kept informed of progress on the new Aston Martin plant. What do you want TVR to do at this point - drop folks daily emails? There are big changes going on - why not wait until the dust has settled?

Dust just never seems to settle!
Problem is the Company has a small limited fan base AND a very poor reputation, that gives little time to get change in and right before cash flow becomes a real problem.
Keeping recurrent owners (idiots) like me in the picture IS the only way to save the company, or we will all go somewhere else and there are alternatives, as some of Central Scotland's TVRCC have already found out.

Still very soon after the change in real terms. I've known businesses to be in a state of flux for 6 months plus after a change of ownership where business processes are changed....

so it needs a bigger fan base, based on a better reputation, which won't happen overnight but seems to be underway right now with quality increases

like casflow wasn't a problem BEFORE! At least TVR now have a source of cash thanks to Nicolai. CiderwithCerbie said:

er....no. Selling new cars is the only way to save the company. It matters not who they are sold to. In practical business terms, if TVR 'lost' 500 sales to 'recurrent' owners, but instead gained 1000 sales to new owners then they are 100% better off, and 1000% better off if the new owners pay more for a better product and stop wingeing on like half the current lot

I'm not aware of anyone in Central Scotland's TVRCC who has left the marque because of anything to do with changes at TVR. I am aware of 1 TVR being sold, but that was for reasons of transport practicality. I am aware of new owners though, and at least 1 new car on order.
oops, and of course my daily driver is a Ford now...but there's still a pile of bits with TVR on it stuck in the garage
...to hell with all this banter. It's 17:30 and I'm off home. I've a TVR to work on

Well as it appears that this post has gone completely off topic lets just stay with one.
