Find myself clenching my jaw/face...
Discussion
Toxic, it's often stress or tension related and can go from simple clenching if the teeth from one degree to another to full on grinding (bruxism) which can cause pain and derangement of the jaw joints (TMJD-temperomandibular joint disfunction).
By constantly clenching your teeth you send the muscles of mastication into anaerobic mode and this means they produce more lactic acid which builds up in the muscles and can cause cramp/pain. The main muscle involved here is the masseter-you can feel it bulge on the side of your jaw when you clench your teeth so if you have any tension/pain here this is likely due to this.
It's a very common problem with the levels of stress a lot of people are under. As long as you're not in pain or smashing your teeth to pieces the best course of action is just to wait and see. Maybe talk to your dentist about it and ask him to make sure your not damaging anything.

Nothing wrong with admitting to stress, I'm under far too much myself and it's something I really dislike about my job.
As above get a mouthguard or you're going to smash your teeth to bits by the sound of it. Haven't got a clue how much they are in the UK but in France with a mutuel and the social security they are effectively free.

I had this which ended up in my jaw clicking at one side and eventually locking up so I couldn't open my mouth properly. Not nice and resulted in seeing a specialist at the local hospital. Over time and with conscious effort not to get wound up and grit my teeth, it eased and eventually sorted itself out but I still find myself getting stressed and gritting my teeth.
