Bill Callahan/Smog

I heard a few tracks lately on R6music and thought I'd dig a little deeper. Downloaded I wish we were an eagle and it's really drawn me in.
He comes under the names Bill Callahan or Smog. I'm not really sure why or how long he's been around. And there's nothing that instantly grabs you as being particularly special yet I keep going back for more and each time it gets much, much better. There's similarities with Leonard Cohen in that rather than clever lyrics or a remarkable singing voice, he tends to rely on repetition and flow to hold it all together.
Anyone else a fan?
