Car adverts- Previous keeper Info
Discussion
Why would I care that the previous owner was a Doctor? Am I supposed to be impressed? They penny pinch just as much, of not more than anyone else. A service history is worth the same whether a Doctor owned the car or if it were a plumber.
This info is useless to me. Just show me the paperwork.

In my experience of Doctors (a few friends are) - they are more scatterbrained and less inclined to look after stuff like car maintenance than someone who does a manual labour job. This info is useless to me. Just show me the paperwork.
Basically "doctors car" = "abused" to me.
That's brilliant, but did you put in the advert title, "Previous Doctor Owner" hoping that would get you more interest or did you simply state in the write up comprehensive history and reciepts for all previous work done?
Condition and History sells the car, not the occupation of a previous owner.
Drug dealers have plenty of cash but I wouldn't say "one previous loaded drug dealer owner"

Little details like this can make a difference when searching for a car amongst the hundreds available online.
Eg a one owner (doctor) car has far better provenance than an average car as its likely to be main dealer maintained with the owner able to service on time and likely to buy premium brand tyres etc.
These are all good things when buying used but if you can't see that just go ahead and buy the cheapest one you can find -and good luck.

To you, yes. But there are plenty of gullible people out there who will be subconsciously impressed by the fact that a doctor owned it. Because people trust doctors, and if they know a doctor bought the car originally, then it must be a good one, as they made the decision to buy it.davamer23 said:

Yes i did as a marketing tool to stand above other cars, and also because it was in black and white on the logbook and all the receipts. It worked and was soldCondition and History sells the car, not the occupation of a previous owner.

very quickly...
A few years ago at le mans a few guys near us had their chairs pinched, I offered a few spare chairs and got chatting to a guy there who was a dr.
Fast forward a few months and a mate calls me up, could I run him up to Newbury to pick up a Volvo estate he's bought privately, he liked the fact that it was owned by a dr.
Turns out that it was the le mans guy.
That is the end of my dr car owning story
Cheers

A car owned by a respectable Doctor with deep pockets to service and maintain it or a car owned by a local Chav who sold it because he couldn't afford to fix it and did burnouts every time he drove like he stole it?
A couple of points:- Doctors often have more debt than you would think - medical school isn't cheap.
- Doctors and chavs can both drive like tools, or not.
