Agree. I have mates from up here in Newcastle who have lived in London for years and have adopted the accent. Not the cockney geezer one, the well spoken, full pronunciation one. 3 days back home and it evaporates.
When quizzed on it they say if they spoke with their Geordie accent no one would understand them and they wouldn't get very far in life.
Understandable I suppose. I'd rather just stay up here though.

Although a londoner, from a very young age I got used to dialects. My boss at around age 18 was from the gorbals in glasgow. I still remember a story he told about his brand new Vauxhall Victor that never did better than 12 to the gallon. One night whilst sufferering from food poisoning at around 3am he caught his son siffening petrol from the tank.
My next boss came from Aberdeen. Always carried a wee dram of whiskey.
My wife is hopless with accents. If I watched Rab C Nesbitt she could not understand a word they said. No fun watching a program and then trying to translate.

I respect his individuality. His freedom of expression and his passion for the 911. Whilst I am not a fan of all his hot rod ideas, like louvred deck lids, frenched rear lights and drilled door handles, it is art. If I was drilling my door handles it would have to be millimetrically perfect. Art is not perfection. It is interpretation. If you want perfection then the Singer would be the weapon of choice.
