Now that we are in 2014, it's surely time to plan ahead as to what's happening for the BBWF 2014. I know this subject has been discussed earlier but we are still in the dark of any specific details. I know Mark is trying to organise some kind of event, and I do understand how difficult it must be, but if we get this discussion going on the forum, maybe we'll find a solution to suit the majority. I personally would have loved another Ettington Chase event in the summer if it were at all possible. I have attended the last three years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Let's have more ideas as it would be a shame to miss out this year.

Tony...Due to the influx of weddings next year the only date available is the weekend of the 6th-8th June 2014.

I was intending on posting up the details soon but while we are on the subject...I was planning a coalition with the Griffgrowl but that has seemed to of fizzled out with not much interest, Also a date for the Growl has already been scheduled and Ettington cannot accommodate us on the same day but could if the Growl was brought forward which basically is not going to happen!.

Im hoping to extend the weekend on the sunday with the Shakespeare raceway as they have an event on the same weekend and will reserve a spot for car clubs, More on that later.

In the next couple of weeks I'm sorting out the food..Entertainment and attractions...There is still a multitude of tasks to do as I'm on my own now as the rest of the team had to resign due to other commitments.

This has also affected the entertainment as i had someone really special lined up..A massive 80's-90's star..In fact he is still current but the link won't be there so he won't be now...I will however sort something out.

I did not want to announce anything until the wheels were in motion so to speak...

More to follow...

We all understand how difficult it must be for you Mark, especially being on your own to organise the whole thing. I don't mean to rush you but a lot of people do plan months ahead, and you don't want to end up in a situation where people have made other arrangements, especially after all the hard work you're putting in. Still, you know what you're doing I guess, so we'll all watch this space for further details.

Hi Tony

As you can see..No.8...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I was planning on announcing a date before Christmas but it took me ages to get in touch with prospective organisers of other events which unfortunately fell flat at the first hurdle..Then the team that was put together to organise it all disbanded due to other commitments as i said..These things happen but hopefully i will tackle this on my own which is not a major problem and i will endeavour to deliver an event which is in keeping with the tradition of BBWF but also add a little extra...Hopefully at no extra cost.

You can put the date of the 6th-8th of June 2014 in your diary....

I have been in touch with the TVRCC and also some traders who might come along..

I will keep everyone up to speed on this and report the progress of anything that moves forward.

TBC.....Ziga

Although, speaking from my point of view, 6th-8th June is a little earlier than usual, I think most people would be happy to put this date in their diary if they knew the event was on for certain. I think fellow Wedgers should start giving their opinions on the forum as to whether this date suits them or not.

Is the hotel booked yet? If not, perhaps you should start a thread and see who would be likely to attend and then book the hotel. That way everyone knows where they stand.

If it's left too late people will start making other arrangements or even book to attend other festivals, that way the BBWF as we know it may be split up and lower the number attending.

Come on Wedgers, let's have some opinions!

As an outsider but knowing how difficult events are to organise I'd say stick with the dates available.

You'll never be able to suit everyone so I'd suggest that if those are the only dates that Ettington have and everyone is happy with staying there then everyone works round that rather than getting peoples opinions on dates.

If you can go on those dates then great if not tough.

Exactly..As i have said..The Hotel is FULLY BOOKED all or most of the year due to no-one wanting to get married there last year because it contained 13 in the date..load of in my opinion..But hopefully the weather will be on our side..I appreciate not everyone being able to make that date but the BBWF WILL go ahead..Again as i have said already...

I have some things for us to do on the saturday and the sunday, This will benefit those who cannot make the saturday as well as for those who can.

Im trying to keep cost's at a minimum which is not easy unless i can be guaranteed a said amount of people turning up which we all know is not feasible.

I will put the plan of action up once i have okayed a few things...

I was going to ask what we want but in honesty it could cause a divide and end up going round in circles so I'm running with the format that we have seen previously at BBWF but with some added extras, Hopefully something for everyone.

Keep you posted....Ziga

Wind it in Tony.

Mark will confirm when its booked in due course.

If you are that worried, book in for those dates and cancel it IF it dosent happen!

Hassling people just tends to wind them up and wont help.

I have a very tight schedule and most of my weekends are taken up many months ahead. I was only trying to plan ahead and make the festival fit in with my other commitments. I am sure Mark is trying his best to organise the event and will let us all know in due course, but information seems to be coming over very slowly. I wasn't aware that I was hassling Mark and I do apologise if that's the way it's come across. I won't be asking any more questions about the festival.

Hi Tony...I appreciate you asking about the fest as people need to know, As i said previously some of the plans went out the window and i had to wait nearer the new year to see what was happening in certain motor sport and event calendars before i could go any further.

There is over 5 months until the fest so i would have thought it would of been enough time for anyone to decide wether they are coming or not..After all the world could end any day..Without warning and no-one has planned for that...eek

When i spoke to the chase in November they were already booked up so i gave it another month in the hope that some may of cancelled due to pre-marital break ups..But no such luck..

I have also had to re-schedule what was originally planned due to unforeseen circumstances but as they say.."The best laid plans go to waste"

I will try my hardest to provide a fest people will come to and enjoy, I doubt if everyone will be happy but theres always hope... smile
I should think by this time next week i will be able to announce what i have planned...So please be patient...Cheers...Ziga

Try again in a couple of weeks when all the Christmas party/new year shagging has been discovered, THEN there'll be a few break-ups hehe
