Ummmm very nice but plan on another £8-12k in my opinion to race today, cost a bomb to get it up to speed. Great track day car as is I would have thought.

For those sensible enough not to use Facebook , here's my rantings
What price history ? at 30k + recom costs it looks ambitiously priced when there are other Rover engined cars on the market at 25k that would certainly be quicker. But take a look through the classifieds , Mk2 Escort -Vauxhall engine new build rally car -looks lovey but it's 40 grand.
Ferrari 308 road car converted to racer for Future classics etc -quick car and looks well put together-£36950.. there loads of example like that and there all probably "worth" it becuause you couldnt build them for less.
So why shouldnt ANY Tuscan Challenge car that's in one piece be at least 30k ?? If you could replicate one from scratch how much would it cost really, 50k+ ?
It's not that the 30k Gulf car is expensive..it's the 25k cars for sale now are Dirt Cheap. And you cant new build provenance, all Challenge Car's have it in various degrees.. A low build numbers ,balls out racer from a legendary championship, from one of the most exciting and best loved British sports car manufactures there ever was/is.
What suprises me i that they are still not 50k cars , but they will be it's inevitable (5 years max is my prediction) as time passes they become increasingly eligble for different race series. Remember when enginless AJP cars were 9 grand because you "couldnt get an engine" and they had nowhere to race. Those days are gone , ive managed to race mine in DTEC,Sports Saloons, AMOC and Future Classics and ive got another race event n the pipeline , so there's plenty of opportunity to use them properly.
These cars are at bargain prices at present, and this Gulf car ticks all the right boxes for the enthusiast who values the car's history - if you want something quicker ,to use right away Tims car and the Steve Guglielmi car are cracking value - They All Are !

That's the best "talk up the value of my fleet" post yet Daz

N.B. There's a lot of truth in it though

I'll tell you what, the big lad from Swinton isn't as thick as he looks!
The rest of his money is in Jags isn't it
Trouble with Tuscans is that they are still a bit young to be classics and they are fundamentally faster than anything else out there, hence after a few race meets the rest of the field don't want to race against them.....
I suspect that another few years will change that perception though..
has anyone ever done a circuit to circuit comparison of lap times of the original spec v8 cars against the last 5 or 6 years years of the current crop??
Fundamentally though Smiffy is holding values down since he owns or buys most of them anyhow

au contraire Neil, doesn't it naturally follow that my squirrelling instincts - and borderline pathological inability to sell anything - could only enhance rarity, maybe resulting in a mild strengthening in value of the genre - as a whole ?
