Well, ok, I exaggerate. My Cerbera was one of the better ones, with 350 from a range of 310 to 350. After the Red Rose mods back in spring I finally got round to having it dynoed.

The first power run was aborted at 386bhp because the engine temp had risen so much, so after cooling down we started the second power run from 5000 instead. This gave 398bhp at 7170rpm, with a peak torque of 340lbft at 5180rpm, though it's over 300lbft from 4500rpm to beyond 7300rpm. The Red Rose mods haven't compromised anything either, as the torque is up everywhere and there is clearly much more top end - a clear result of the higher compression & porting. As well as that, it's much more tractable at the bottom end as well. Overall, very pleased indeed, and certainly backs up the difference you can feel on the road! Next modification from Joolz is to replace that woefully inadequate land rover radiator with a proper 6 core alloy thing...

good to hear it danny.

As good as 400bhp on the wheels, blimey, thats alot of power considering the weight.

Whats the name of the place that you used? I fancy doing a similar thing but am having trouble finding somewhere that can handle a Red Rose Cerb.

Cheers

I'm hoping Joolz still arranges a rolling road day at his local Noble motorsports. Otherwise maybe another Cheltenham day (Powerstation?). Would be good to use the same model of dyno for comparison. Surprised you have trouble finding somewhere that only does 400ish bhp - all places I've been to manage 800+ no problems.

Maybe yours has slightly more being the original one, but I'm happy anyway - don't think I'd notice another few.

It's 400bhp at the flywheel, transmission losses are around 25%.

got a few things planned to hopefully get that nearer the 420 it should be, that cooling system is very marginal at these outputs as danny says but there's a few engine power related tweaks planned also such as bespoke mapping session and exhaust manifold redesign - now i've done a deal with a local manufacturer that might become a joospeed production version if it works out.

Clearly your speed 6 was too much for you... does your Griff's 240 suit you better?

Congratulations Danny. Good to hear the Red Rose mods actually worked. In your case, it is an increase of 48bhp, but most importantly, peak torque is now down to approx. 5,000 rpm, which I think is significant. I hope my Cerbie RR produces that much power and torque. I'll consider having it dynoed when its fully run in.

I wasn't last. My cerbera always had 350, which was more than all bar Richard Prebble with 360 that very first time.

What tin is 440 written on? Certainly not John Ravenscroft's...

You're right, my maths went to pot with all this power-crazed talk.

My tin only says 420bhp of course

What tin anyway... marketing apparently just made that number up!

I am glad to hear you've had a decent power increase. I must admit knowing TVR and their optamistic power claims I was a little sceptical wether you would get a meaningful power increases from a RR conversion. You must be pleased/relievd.

Joolz, what are your plans for custom mapping of the AJP? Is it replacing the MBE with a new programable ecu or are you planning to burn a new chip for the MBE?
