Hi all, I'm looking for folks who'd like a track day with tuition.

In The Netherlands where I'm from I have about 10 peeps who are interested. I need at least 20 more enthusiasts to get this organised.

I'm thinking Silverstone or Snetterton. Two young and well know aces with extensive experience in both historic, endurance and touring car racing have agreed to get this one going.

Should be fun.

At a count of 20 I will grab my calculator and make this work.

Are you considering hiring a circuit yourself? Or running at an existing track day?

The whole enchilada: I'll get my calculator out when 20 are interested.

Depending on the crowd: 2 or 3 pro drivers teaching and on a UK track. Olli Bryant, Joe Twyman are interested. Could be good!

If you are emphasising the tuition side of it you really want 3 (maybe 4 maximum) drivers per instructor.

This would allow each driver to get about 4 sessions with the instructor over the day so you probably want 6-7 instructors to make it work with 20 drivers.

With 30 people and only 2 instructors you'd be lucky if you got 20 mins per person with an instructor. Most track days offer that for free or a very limited cost.

Sorry to be unsupportive, but do you really think you can put together anything better than the existing TDOs?

Hmmmmmmmmm...... 20 people at say Silverstone GP would probably be about £1000 per person.

IIRC you brought this up in the 'Classics' forum a few weeks ago;
is this one and the same proposed event?

More like £2000 if you want the GP circuit.

If you got it discounted maybe, might want to add another 50% per person at least onto that figure. There is a lot more involved to running a trackday than simply hiring a circuit, I doubt the circuit would touch you as a private group unless you had everything else arranged as well, insurance, etc. You'd be much better off arranging it through a TDO who has all the other arrangements already in place.

Should be noted Snetterton is probably around half the price of Silverstone. You might struggle to get your own trackday date anyway as the TDO's had most of the dates arranged a month ago so there'd be very little (if anything) left to choose from.

I'm not necessarily going to disagree with you, but as a TDO yourself;
in the words of Mandy Rice-Davies ......... smile.

I have been involved in the private hire of Combe, Goodwood and Donington,
it was many years ago but it all seemed very simple back then.

I'm obviously now out of touch price wise but last time I enquired
Silverstone was about £25K and I just assumed that a winter weekday might still
be a little less.

OK, thanks for your input.

I'm thinking about the 8 drivers and 2 instructors set up, on a Snett or S'stone trackday - I know Snetterton:

Looks reasonable to add an instruction fee.

Thanks, hapy 2014!

Open pitlane at Donny in May.

I'm doing the DSR14 1st weekend of May:

And May is busy for racing drivers.

FEB / MARCH will be a better idea: who of the drivers from the provisional entry list has a serious taste for this?
