Residuals affected by colour on a Porsche

I need to spec our Porsche Macan Diesel S and being an Aston Martin man and never owning a Porsche would like input as to whether getting one in white (which is the colour choice of my wife) would be less desirable than Black. She was looking at red but for some reason this colour is not available.
I know the residuals are going to be good anyway, but I am concerned about white on a Porsche being slightly too much and limiting the resale market whereas Black, though common, is generally accepted by most.

Recession white has been fashionable again in the past few years, but I think it's been done to death now and I wouldn't buy a white car if I had an eye on residuals.

What makes you think residuals are going to be good though?

I am guessing because it is well priced, already has a huge waiting list and the Cayenne was selling at list for almost a year?

I wouldn't go for white I think it looks bad on SUV's and looks cheap as they get older.

Black's a pain to keep clean.

I'd go for a dark grey (or dare I say it Silver).

Coming from Aston you should know this, black sticks around and to hard to look after.
Last cars to sell are black Astons, you never see any.

White's a bugger to keep clean, is considered rather too shouty by many and is/was something of a fashion colour. Conversely, black's rather safe and dull for many.
Personal opinion of course, but if residuals are your thing, then I would expect black to be desired by a greater number of people than white in the future.
But then if your missus wants white, do you want to disappoint...:-)

I'd actually be interested to see what the present colour proportions are these days, as well as the trends/change. Maybe I'm just out of touch...:-)

You could always search the official used cars lists for Evoque/Cayenne etc and see what relative proportions there are...?

White is actually easy to keep clean, does not show dust or water marks etc.

Black on the other hand is impossible, and while looks great when done, does not in 5 minutes.

Not that I would buy white in this car either.
Colour choice is lacking on this model though :-(

Surprised you say Black in Porsches is not a sort after colour as the majority on sale are, so at some point the majority of buyers would be speccing their car in Black.
Coming from Aston and having had a DB9 Volante in Black and now owning a DB9 Volante in Dark Grey,I think the Black is far smarter than the Grey which I feel looks very drab and boring but I can get away without cleaning it for a month and it still looks acceptable.
Will be buying the next Aston in Black when I sell this one!!!
Surprisingly small selection of colours on the Macan configurator for such a prestigious marque was also a bit of surprise.

Personally would not go for white.
Astons in black need to be clean to look smart but you can get away with dirty black Porsches especially if it's an SUV.

Personally, I think white would look pretty good on the Macan, and I wouldn't worry about it affecting residuals.

Never been a fan of black though - other than on London cabs and funeral hearses.

But surely there'll be lots of other colour options?

Take out the couple of browns(seriously do people still buy that disgusting metallic brown...now that must hit residuals!!!! :0) and non metallics and you are left with the usual white,blue,black,silver,grey so five in total.

White with brown leather would be nice. I would not worry about it, there is a market out there for white SUV's. Just don't spec the leather in red or blue.

Black is the worst colour for anything with a Porsche, Ferrari or Lambo badge on. Basalt black or Silver would be the easiest to maintain. My current car is white, it is easier to maintain that i expected and I keep mine parked outside. Cleaning once every two weeks is enough.

Regarding the old money/new money comment. Old money don't buy new Porsche SUV, they buy Japanese or Rangey.

Here's a contentious thought - you're buying a diesel SUV, it'll probably plummet like a stone whichever colour you pick because it's Porsche's first real grab at the corporate/fleet market and there will be zillions of them all over the place in 18 months time, so just pick the colour you like.
