Just wondering if anyone has experience with either these? After reading a bunch of reviews of all kinds of compacts, these 2 seem highly rated, just not sure which one to go for!

Panasonic wins here - http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-PowerShot-SX280-...
But this reviews states that the Canon has 'class leading photo quality' - http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/digital-cameras/130...

Cheers smile

I am looking at both cameras as well

I have included the SX270 as well as Jessops have it with a free case and 16GB memory card at the moment. I don't really need Wifi and GPS over the 280 model

Sony HX50 with a bigger zoom is also on offer at Jessops for £219 including case, screen protector and memory card

However I am leaning more towards the TZ40 as the touch screen is meant to be good for video recording. However I am looking for a decent deal on one!

Both the ones I listed are at Currys mate, with money off [though no case and memory card I don't think]. I'll have a butchers at the models you mention too [as I'm not worried about Wifi or GPS either], cheers buddy.

Have seen the price of the Sony A3000 on there? £199 bigger sensor and probably better video as well, may be too big for the op though
