Here's my newly acquired MR2 Roadster!

It's a 2006 model in Lagoon Blue with custom leather interior (from new!).

I'd been hunting for a couple of months for the right car. Viewed a few, including another MR2 up for sale locally. This one came up for sale and it just seemed right. It had everything I wanted, including the added bonus of custom leather as a special order (cream leather with blue stitching).

Not had chance to drive it much yet, but hoping to get out there a bit more when the weather picks up!

Very nice, any interior pictures? Did you get a good deal? I've been looking at these myself.

I have to be honest, I didn't get the best deal in the world. I could have probably found a better priced car, but it's actually remarkably difficult finding an MR2 which ticks all the boxes. They aren't rare, but they aren't exactly common either, which makes finding one a pain.

No interior pictures as yet, but I'll get some up soon. The interior is so basic it's unreal!

I really like that blue, the interior sounds interesting too, looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Very very nice. The post 05 engine is apparently bulletproof, and the blue really suits it. I'd like a hardtop on mine but can't justify the cost when the softtop doesn't leak...

Yeah, I had read that there were even some revisions in 06 which made them even more bulletproof, but I'm not sure what changes there were.

The soft top on mine is basically brand new. The hard top has been on most of its life! The hard top fitting kit alone is about £250-300; then you have the cost of the hard top! Madness. Luckily mine came with it!

I wasn't that fussed about not getting a hard top on mine, as the only time I used it on my MX-5 was when I had to move it during house moves. However, with parking my MR2 outside, there has been a few times recently when it has been wet inside, maybe I need to sort out the hood/seals.

Where did you find the details on what has changed on the engines?

Hmm, now you're asking... Somewhere on MR2ROC indicated that the 06 engine was stronger than the rest, with minor changes throughout the years, but I'm not sure what the changes were. There were also changes to the bracing etc around 04, and maybe also in 05.

Well, here's the interior! Ignore the 'saggy' seat - I'd just been sat in it.

Here's the blue stitching.

That looks very classy! Certainly less in your face than my red seats.

The facelift MR2 was the turning point (around 2004) for the engine fixes. Only the 06 is oval bore immune as that's when the oil control rings were fixed, but if you have an 04 or 05 facelift your safer than the preface lifts (2003 and earlier). The easy way to tell is the facelift has fog lamps and a 6 speed box.

I really miss my MR2 :-(

I've been having fun in mine this weekend too!

I like the dual exhausts - it looks like yours had all the options ticked!

Yep, pretty much everything! TTE stuff all over the place, basically!
