Specialist refusing to resolve fault - opinions needed...

I've had a few little niggles with my 911 that I bought just before Christmas from a well respected specialist. Firatly the radio kept cutting out, one of the keys wouldn't remote lock/unlock, a noisy spoiler when raising/lowering, the light in the boot doesn't work and the brake lights were not working.

The radio, key, spoiler and brake light switch have been sorted but the specialist won't sort the boot light because it is the micro switch in the lock that needs replacing; yet want £120 plus vat for it but I think they are taking the pee. Am I right in assuming all faults should be rectified in the first 3 months? I don't mind doing it myself as the part is circa £50 but its a matter of principal; I have been extolling their virtues to a number of people looking to buy a used Porsche and now I am beginning to wonder if they are as good as some think.


Edited to add:- I think it is fair to point out that I took the car away on the day so it was agreed with the dealer at point of sale to do the corrective work at a convenient point in the New Year which they have duly done! Additionally the brake light switch fault was dealt straight away whilst I waited on the Saturday morning after getting the car - in fact it was done and ready to drive away within an hour of me calling them about the issue!!! Just slightly disappointed to have to sort the switch myself.

I think you're being a bit OTT and pedantic to be fair. Forget about the light in the boot and drive the thing. The dealer should know better but if thats their attitude i wouldn't waste any time or energy over it. lifes too short

Its a few years since I was in the motor industry but from what I recall, a used car should be fit for purpose and any fault relating to that purpose should be rectified for the first 3 months.

A boot light would not therefore qualify as 'fit for purpose'.

Im pretty sure the 3 month thing is just engine and gearbox (legal requirement of a dealer)

Cheers folks; I wasn't sure what the three months related to. I wouldn't normally be so fussy but seeing as there have been quite a few little niggles it has kind of got my back up a bit and I'm fed up with keep having to go back to get them sorted. I suppose that's why I have always previously gone for OPC approved cars because everything is covered!

Hi, the front lock is £92.00 plus vat...just buy that which has micro switch built in and replace it yourself... 15-20minutes.

That way you have a new lock complete.

I bought a used 911 from a reasonably well know indy and have a written 6 months unconditional warranty, obviously precludes wear and tear items. So you either have something similar or you have no warranty and you are relying on their good will. If it is the latter then good luck.

Oh we'll I decided to tackle it myself and removed the lock and stripped it down; it was full of gunk so needed a damn good clean. I removed the micro switch unit which operates in a very simple yet clever manner. There is a little spring that closes the mechanism had lost its memory so I simply stretched it and replaced it and now all is working as it should!
