Bought a car from a friend of a friend and sent away the V5 to register the car in my name last week.
Got a call from someone today asking could they purchase the car.
They are coming to see it tomorrow morning for a tyre kick
Can I sell them the car tomorrow and the when the V5 comes back sent it to them
Or legally do I have to have the V5 when i sell them the car.
The car is straight with MOT, Tax and FSH

Yes, but would require trust in you on the purchasers part
The V5 is not ownership, just registered keeper.
I would write out a receipt - 2 copies detailing the sale signed by both of you. Then another letter to DVLA notifying of chane of keeper - again signed by both with all necessary fields....post it to them and state V5 to follow. Copy the letter and fill out when received and send with cover note including the copy of your previous letter.
