Plugged in on demand in lounge box and set it up - works fine. But remote eye in bedroom stops working.

Unplug on demand box and eye starts working again?

With it plugged in I have played with settings and no joy - still getting a picture but remote does not work!

Hi,

I have had on demand for a long while and only last week did my eye stop working. Only upon reading your post did I try to unplug my on demand box, low and behold, it now works!!!

I am very happy but now I cannot use on demand while on my second tv. I wonder if it could be a new firmware update which has caused this issue.

Same issue here .. The remote eye has not worked since I got the Wifi box added a few months ago so not sure if its an software update problem.
The only solution I have found is to leave the on demand wifi box unplugged and only plug in when needed.

To force a software update hold backup on the unit down when applying power to the unit. It takes a long time but do not switch off power or the box. You can turn it back on with the remote when it is done.

Does the update via the sat dish.

Our remote eye hasn't worked for ages. Recently we've been using the sky + app on a phone to remote control the sky box downstairs which is also plugged in to bedroom TV.

Could that work for any of you?

My eyes working fine with an Ethernet connection for on demand. You could try a temporary cable and see if it sorts the issue. A power line Ethernet device might be a permanent fix if you can't actually run a cable permanently.

For those that are having problems do you have a box with a built in RF2 or one of the new boxes with the add on?

It's a odd fault that I that I have not seen before.

It could be a sign of the sky box PSU dieing and not giving out enough power to run both of them at the same time.

Have you spoken to sky about it?

I haven't spoken to sky about it, but I think I will today, although my box is a good 3 yrs old, so not sure what they will say regards to fixing it if there is an issue with the box.

I can't use the eye as there is no light on the eye itself when the in demand box is plugged in and powered on (old box so separate wireless connector). I even tried plugging the eye in directly into the RF2 output and still not light on the eye, so it looks like there is not enough power to support the on demand box and the RF2 at the same time.

I will try the software update and also speak to sky and see what any outcomes are.

Cheers for the suggestions chaps!!

Update from me .. I had another look at what the issue was and seem to have solved it. It was just a loose rf2 lead issue. When I unplugged the on demand wifi unit I must have "knocked" the rf2 lead in further and now magic eye works with the on demand box plugged back in. Thanks for bringing the topic up as I had previously given up on finding a solution !
