So i was behind a car yesterday and they pulled out on me with no lights on in the dark so i beeped then they slammed thier brakes on on purpose so i give them the old wker gesture, then they proceeded to turn round at the roundabout and follow me for 2 miles. Scary experience knowing who could be in the car.

Do you beep at pretty much anyone who does something stupid? Or are you wary

Beep of horn = Is supposed to me... I'm letting you know I am here. ( all too often used as a signal for anger )

Give the wker signal .... Lucky dip. Extreme example... The driver could be a mental with no insurance etc - and could just ram you.

Think along the lines of the world is 99% mental nutters and you will have a happier driving life.

I tend to only beep when I see a 'Honk If You're Horny' sticker.

Did you beep because
a. they pulled out and forced you to brake?
b. they pulled out and forced you to brake and their lights were off
c. they pulled out - you weren't forced to brake - their lights were off?

For options B and C a flash of the lights might have been more effective as a reminder to them to turn their lights on.

I very rarely beep at people. I just can't be bothered, as all it gains are one of the following-
1. An apology- rare as rocking horse st
2. Nothing, it is completely ignored
3. Some confused person becoming even more confused (a dangerous prospect)
4. Being mouthed/gestured at

In short, it doesn't turn the clocks back. So just take a deep breath and get on with life. Every journey is now far more pleasant for me, as I don't get wound up anymore.

I certainly I don't want to be one of those aggressive people who gesture at others from the safety of their car. I perceive those people to be cowards who wouldn't dream of doing it face-to-face. Either that or chavvy tts who think it's acceptable to call strangers a 'wker' or whatever.

Beeped at an Owens (south wales) truck who cut me up at a roundabout a few years ago. I was driving a ford transit minibus, he drove like a fking bat out of hell for about 2 miles (from leeway ind-est in newport to near the transporter bridge). Eventually he blocked off a roundabout and sprinted across to me, tried opening the door but I managed to drive off over a grass verge around his truck.

Terrifying, I didn't get his reg number as I was too bothered about getting away from him :/

Let me get this right.

tt in car (thats you) behaves aggressively towards another road user.

Other road user isn't impressed and so procedes to return the favour.

Said tt is now stting himself.

Morale of the story - wind your neck in unless you can cash the cheques your mouth / actions are writing.

People are stabbed for less smile

Always think what the worst case scenario is, and if you can't handle it, don;t do it.

I either end up resetting the trip computer or pressing pointlessly on the steering wheel. That's what happens when you drive different cars with horns in different places!

As such I now no longer bother trying and just use the brakes.

Horn is for situations when not using it will mean you crash. If you wouldn't stand face to face with the other driver and shout "fk you" at them, then don't use the horn. The angry horn is a direct motoring "fk you".

OP, try not to beep anyone has to be the best answer.

At best it'll achieve fook all, at worst you stand a chance of being duffed.
