968 turbo project...
Discussion
I have been considering a track day car project :
import 968 CS (LHD) from Germany = £10,000
Slicks + roll cage = £2,300
Aftermarket Turbo works = ?????
This is my question - who in the UK (or DE) will do the necessary work (professionally) with all the sundry stuff and clutch / exhaust. Figure with a large displacement 4 cylinder of the 968 this should be good for 350 bhp ? Some old style lag too woudl be great too.

There was a home built 968 turbo in 911 and Porsche world some time a ago. If I recal correctly you will need to lower the compresion ratio of the 3 ltr engine and fit the entire exaust, air intake, turbo, intercooler etc system from a 944 turbo. But the manifolds will need modifying to fit the 16v head.
Interesting project but highly involved and very costly. Good luck !

There was a 944 turbo recently for sale in Germany with a 3.0 turbo engine for around € 22,000.
The work is not really complicated, but most of the parts required are rather expensive.
The only real issue is to have the engined correctly tuned but there are plug & play solutions available on the market.

I believe that Barry Hart at Hartech is building a 3 litre Turbo engine at the moment. There are many 3 litre Turbos in the States and www.powerhaus.com provide a kit (but it aint cheap)
To get 350 bhp I would just get Colin at 9M to stick his supercharger kit on it. If you want a lot more then go the Turbo route

Superchargers
Though the one Colin sells for the 968 is centrifugal rather than the type on my 993. I believe this means it's got a more turbo-like torque delivery i.e. weaker at very low revs and stronger at higher revs (the power plot on the ninemeister site bear this out)
Given that the 9m charger is a proven kit, it'd probably be a lot cheaper to get working properly than a bespoke turbo install. And 350 bhp is a hell of a lot in a 968.
You could probably get the whole thing sorted for around the 20k mark, and end up with a very fast, great handling car (if it was me, I'd leave some of the trim and use it on road as well!!!)
