Am I being thick? I can push the switches out about a centimetre but then the clay plastic thing (below) stops me and no matter what I do I cannot get the plastic thing off!

Also does anyone know what the correct bulb is for the fog switches (which are illuminated when on).

They are really tight mate but they do come off. You can just see in your pic some tiny retaining tabs/teeth. Gently lift them up with a small flat screwdriver while sliding them backwards.

As Karl say's..They should pull off but might need a bit of gently persuasion..The switches themselves might need the tabs at the top and bottom gently pressed in for the switch to be removed also....While they are off gently clean the contacts/Pins with an emery board preferably, Don't use a file as they can be too heavy...Some 1200 grit wet and dry would work ok..Do this to the light and fan switch particularly underneath where the flat copper contacts are..Be gentle though...Ziga

I'm not actually planning to clean them (maybe a quick blast of contact cleaner and compressed air) they're all working fine.

I'm just trying to get behind it to trace some wiring a lube up the heater controls

Oh these things are little b******s took me ages to get them off when I took my dash apart and I cursed a lot but they do come away eventually. I think with age the tabs stiffen up and loose there give. Perseverance is the name of the game.
