Hi guys, my wipers have completely packed in. I've been trying to get the motor off but I'm totally flummoxed as to how to do it. They're stuck solid, so I'm thinking the motor has seized rather than it being the park switch or some such. How do I unattach the motor from the wiper mechanism to get it off?

Cheers guys.

Never done it but I think that you have to get under the dash somewhere to take it all out, is there a mechanism between the two wipers that has maybe become loose or fouled? That would stop everything from moving.

Assuming the wiper motor is under the bonnet.

Undo the large nut on the front where the cable exits, then remove the screws and gearbox cover, detach the cable from the gear inside.

Once you have done it, it takes only 5 mins to do it again.
Bits can be fiddly, so take your time.

Harrytsg is right - the motor is either obvious on the passenger side under the bonnet, or buried somewhere completely awkward to reach above the driver's feet, IIRC. Early cars are the easy ones.

My wiper motor (95 chim) is under the bonnet l/h side but its half covered so I remove the wiper arms and undo the 18mm drive tube nut, remove the "u" clamp and power plug then pull it out letting the wheel boxes rotate. (Good time to re-grease the cable)
Putting it back in is a breeze just spin the wheel boxes to re-mesh the cable as it goes in.
