'Can someone explain the major difference in a digital camera and digital SLR. I own the D70 and have found it to be a great learning tool...'

Not great enough evidently!

A SLR is a camera where you look through the lens, a "camera" is where you look through a hole in the top and it gives you a rough idea where the lens is looking. SLR's can change the lens completely (So you only buy a body and change the lens)...

The digital bit makes no difference to the definition, they both store pictures on a Memory card of some description and transfer them to the PC, resolutions or MegaPixels are pretty much the same as well.

Generally speaking, "cameras" are used for point & shoot work, or where the perfect composition isn't needed, SLR's are used where much more control over the resulting image is needed (try focusing with only the LCD screen to play with).

Another Q I recall was 'How can I turn the shutter sound off...?'
DOH! Some people just shouldn't be allowed out with nice cameras!

Now to find out how to put the film in... mutter...

That's easy. Hand the camera to me and I'll bang it against your head until you're deaf.

It's often said that I've got more money than sense....it's nice to see that I've still got a long way to go!

I can think of a few places

If you're nice I'll take it out of the card reader first

Funny you should say about only having one. I fancy bolting together a nice 2.5L for racing. Either that or have it as the 'car in the sun' like you. I'm still looking down your way, but finding somewhere that is quite near air travel that can get me back into London by 10:30AM on Mondays is proving a challenge.

Back on track (no pun) a bit. Didn't you have a 10D before Martin?

No, this is my first digital SLR. I have an EOS 1n + battery/grip and wouldn't dream of parting with it. Lens compatability is a big bonus as I have a 28-135 IS and a 100-400 IS. In fact I've just got in from a photographic morning (and a nice tapas lunch of grilled sardines and chilli prawns eaten in the sunshine!) so I'll post some of the results up as soon as they're uploaded.

Regarding travelling, I'de have thought the Monarch scheduled flights would fit your requirments, or Easyjet, from Malaga...I'll check.
Martin.

A few random shots from this morning, don't want to post too many in case thet're boring.

Actually today it looked just like your pictures. It was a bit brass monkeys though.

Nice pics. I think the 28-135IS and 100-400IS's are great lenses. Then again I would. I've got both of them too! I use a Sigma 15-30 though. The 12-24 wasn't out when I got mine. It looks a nice lense though.

Cheers

Phil

Gambas pil pil

Just realised where you are based Martin. Do you have the Noble down there all the time or just occasionally?

If it's out there next summer when I bring the 348 down Nerja I wouldn't mind a run out if you're up for it - there's only so much exploring you can do whilst leaving the wife to look after the baby
