Are there any donut experts out there??

My rear tyre tread is getting down a bit and I was thinking of attempting a donut and getting my friend to video it before I replace the tyres.

Whats the best technique for this?? best gear? do you floor it or hold the revs a bit lower or blip the throttle? etc etc....

I have owned several rear wheel drive cars but never really attempted donut before.

I tried once in a 325 Beemer a few years ago but it didn't really work!

I know its a bit childish! but they always look cool on film!

I'm bloody useless at donuts - here's my attempt.

Byff's poor attempt at a donut

I'd like to practice a bit more but always scared of breaking something.

If you don't want to break something, find some grass that someone doesn't mind you carving up.. it's an awful lot easier...

Hell, even the smart will pirouette on grass!

I would do it in a wet parking lot before turf. Both would be very slippy. I think alot of people, for the most dramatic donuts, will touch the brakes at oppertune times to keep a tighter donut and in other cases induce lateral momentum while you steer just after you start going straight if that is the case. (Front brakes more bias than rear) Where I'm from snow is the lowest impact surface.

Cheers guys!

I think i'll give it a go tomorrow afternoon.
My friends work is closed on a Sunday and he said if we slip the security guard 4 cans of beer he'll let us in to have a go.
Its a nice big carpark and knowing our weather there's a good chance it'll be damp!
I'll let you all know how I get on!!

I'm not sure what the dealers/factory do to them but courtesy cars always give the donut value for money!!
Just give her plenty of revs, full lock then as the back end starts to hang out steer into the spin a little bit and feather the throttle a bit until you find the perfect balance.
Practise makes perfect, the car park by our 5-a-side pitch is massive and a bit gravelly and perfect for such antics.
I was once doing patterns in rubber with a factory Chim they had leant me and a guy from the council turned up just after I had stopped - I stood by a smoking, smelly Chim and denied all knowledge of seeing anyone "wheelspinning" in a sportscar!!
Go on, give it a go on crappy old tyres and get the grin factor 9.5!

Way back when I was a teenager I had a Vauxhall Magnum 2.3 that I would donut in front of all the other boy racers. I would rag the hell out of her and shift up a gear all the way to 4th and the speedo would be reading 110mph. Not gonna try with the cerb I don't think!

Here's my first ever donut.

Hard lock right and drop the clutch. I did 6 and blipped the throttle varying the revs.

Felt like a right chav.

sorry it's not a cerb

Went and did one today!

Looked quite good on the Vid, not the greatest donut in the world! but not bad for a first attempt!

I'll try and get it posted, haven't got the first idea what to do though! one of my mates is good with computers so i'll see him to give me a hand!

There was a video on here a while back of a Cerb doing a donut on a road, then he went inside a warehouse and did a donut inside there too - very nearly hitting the walls

Anyone know where it can be found?

I know the one you mean.....I downloaded it but can't remember where I got it.

It must have been from the Cerb Forum or
www.sleepy-fish.com

Must admit he did come soooo close to the walls in that garage...

Should I bring my camera tonight, or a sick bag, or both
