Went to bed about 4am, as is my wont. Got to sleep easily enough but beset by dreams.

I was dreaming of trying to climb up a loose/damaged wall to get out of a train station - and away
from pursuing villains.

Mid-dream the wall fell and at 8.10am, I woke up on the bedroom floor. Smacked my elbow on the bedside cabinet, a bloody scab has appeared (on my elbow, not on the cabinet).

OH "heard a bump" but didn't awaken. I crawled back into bed and slept peacefully until 10:30am.

so in short, WTF????

I love dreams, me!

As mentioned above, cheese gives me some really wierd and vivid dreams but I just find it fascinating how you can invent places and people and the most random details whilst fast asleep.

The other night I had a dream about being in a nightclub (completely fabricated), sitting in a booth with a mate and singing along to two songs and knowing every word...I think I even fabricated the songs! wobble

My favourite though is one that reoccurs every so often, where you've gone to school or work wearing only a t-shirt / shirt and no trousers or pants but no-one seems to have noticed. What the eff is that all about??

You're not on Malaria tablets are you?

I have pretty vivd dreams anyway, a lot of which are like the above having no pants on in awkward situations hehe but when I was on those it was on another level, like being on acid whilst asleep. Every morning I had to take a few minutes to get my bearings.

Just on Fluoxetine (Prozac) for chronic depression.

Last night, I was driving around with Mum (3 years dead in reality), brother and David Cameron (!).
In and around what might have been Stoke, at the wheel of a Rover 100 (owned one 20 years ago), and using Cameron's mobile phone.

Signs of an unquiet mind, methinks. At least I didn't fall out of bed again.

Sometimes dreams can cross over into reality. For instance, last night, I dreamt I was eating a giant marshmallow. In the morning, I discovered my pillow had disappeared.

Have we done that one yet?

I only remember a dream about once a year if I'm lucky.

Had a dream a couple of weeks ago that I was at a chippy on a winding country road, and up pulled Rowan Atkinson in a Range Rover, had his son and daughter with him. That's all I remember. And whether he has any of those 3 (son, daughter, RR), I don't know.

Don't have many dreams anymore, weird ones definetly scarce.

That's right, you go ahead and laugh at my misfortune. frown

I better not mention how the previous night I dreamt I was eating a giant lasagne and in the morning discovered my duvet had gone.

If you're already on SSRIs, they cause funny dreams, and the reason why you went on them in the first place (sense of feeling trapped/trying to escape a situation/mind set/relationship) is perfect fodder for your dream.

Hope your situation improves and you can get back to dreaming about cars and shagging

There's your answer. Not an uncommon side effect.

I've been plagued with terrifying nightmares since childhood. Sometimes wake the house up screaming, which freaks my poor partner out. But sometimes they can be fabulous and I've learned to live with them. Just don't spend much time trying to work out what they mean - mostly it's just random nonsense strung together.

I've been having nightmares for the past month or so. I try to stay awake as long as I can because I hate the dreams. I'm looking pretty tired these days. frown

There is a sleep clinic in Papworth which may be able to address that but you really should speak to someone as the sleep deprivation could make you incredibly ill and compromise your driving/work/decision.

Actually OP, you have two choices: talk to your GP about changing your medication, or work on changing your attitude to your dreams. This is how I have coped. I learned to see them as fabulous adventures where nothing bad is actually going to happen - I won't actually come to any physical harm - so why not plunge into the netherworld?

Realistically, you may need to do both....

Being naked in public

Most of us have had the dream at some point that we're at school, work or some social event, and we suddenly realize we forgot to put on clothes! Experts say this means:
We're trying to hide something (and without clothes we have a hard time doing that).
We're not prepared for something, like a presentation or test (and now everyone is going to know -- we're exposed!).

If we're naked but no one notices, then the interpretation is that whatever we're afraid of is unfounded. If we don't care that we're naked, the interpretation is that we're comfortable with who we are.

Thanks, Peeple,

I'm not really perturbed about the dreams I have. However, waking up on the floor is a bit of a facer. It only ever happened once before, in the middle of a dream I can't recall.

There is a variety of stressors at work but other than a fixed background level, there seems to be no significant correlation between my stress level and my dreaming.

The wall collapsed in my dream but did this make me fall out of bed? Or was it falling out of bed that triggered the collapse of the wall in the dreamscape? Sounds like a chicken and egg production to me.

On balance, the Fluoxetine seems to be working fairly well for me. I'll sometimes nod off in the afternoon or evening - this in itself might be a defence mechanism.

Not much point in worrying - it'll sort itself out in the fullness of time.
