Spotted over Christmas:

Went to the Jag website to ensure I got the model correct. Assumed it was an XFR, but the above has the rudeboy spoiler.

Did Pistonheads drive one in this colour, or was it the XKR?

I had one on test for 5 days last week - due to the crap weather didn't really get chance to push too hard, but can confirm it doesn't take too much right foot to be sideways when the road is damp!
Given the discounts on the normal XFR, this is nearly 25k more and it's simply not worth that level of premium IMHO.
I may take another look in 18 months and see whether the residuals make thus a better buy.
Love that blue colour by the way!

Now heres the question.....would you have one of these or an XKR-S? I've had both a pre-facelift XFR and an XKR-S and I much preferred the XK....it just felt much more of a sporty car to drive, if still not a true 'sports car'. But I believe the XFR-S has some notable advantages over the early XFR and the current XKR-S:

- ZF 8 speed 'box vs. the XKR-S's older 6 speeder

- Faster F-Type steering rack (I think? Or have I imagined this?)

- Much more advanced technology/telematics (although still woefully behind the Germans, the system in the XF and XJ is so much better than the XK's 90's style system)

The steel body of the current XF just kills it, so XKR-S, even though it is long in the tooth.

I wouldn't say it kills it. I'd say it handles the weight pretty well.

That photo makes me feel someone with style-less credentials has simply fitted aftermarket bits and bobs to differentiate theirs from every other... and also then chosen some other manufacturer's paint code to go the final step...
AMG and M do 'menace/style' SO much better

They also cover the rest of the car with stupid creased surfaces too.

They're both rank beginners at this art, for ultimate "F*** Off MY road" presence you need a wide bodied or Vantage Aston Martin Virage from the 90s.
The "M" brand has become worthless, since most cars "claiming to be Ms" are really just posers in 4 cylinder diesels.
As to style, well that's a matter of personal taste, I saw an XFR-S in the dealer the other day, my boys liked it but then they like the look of AMG Mercs too, but none of them would appeal to me.

You're a cheery and open minded lot aren't you smile

You're right about the weight of the XFR - although the XKR isn't that much lighter, it was a lot better to drive 'very' fast and much of it because of the additional weight of the XF.
