pureguard paint treatment

Waste of money
I had that done to mine last year before I picked it up, didn't know any better

I don't know if has done any good, in fact I don't even know if it is on there!!

All do know is that I use a decent car shampoo and a good wool mit and my car looks really good when clean. I know its doing a good job, when I see the beads of water after it rains. I am not sure if the coating has done any good, but if you use good cleaning products, then the protection, as far as I can see, will be there anyway.
I know some Astons leave the factory with the problems indicated above but in fairness, that;s far from the case for all
As for treatments, I see them falling in to 2 camps. The first is the type sold by the dealer, such as Pureguard, & Autoglym. These tend to be sold as a 'product', i.e the focus of the sale is about the lotions & potions themselves and the benefit they bring. Problem is firstly, the basic cost of the 'ingredients' is very little and secondly, it's only as good as the applicator, in this case typically a car washer employed (directly or indirectly) by the dealer, who does give the car a basic wash first, but whose main priority is applying the lotions & potions. But because the dealer focuses on the 'complete product', you are diverted away from seeing it's £20-40 of 'stuff' put on in a matter of an hour or two by a basic car washer, being sold for £300-700
Second is a detailer, where the focus is on the individual. Inevitably, some people then just see it as £300 - £600 for a car wash. But the preparation is far more thorough by the vast majority of proper detailers, it very importantly involves correction first and then, whilst maybe not as widely known a brand and without the packaging, leaflets, etc that accompany treatments like Pureguard, a proper detailer will tend to apply top notch products, really well, which will often cost them far more than the likes of Pureguard. But without the literature, websites, hard sell and in some cases 'guarantee' that comes with the first type, it can come across as poorer value. In reality, the value for money is far greater for a proper detail

My brand spanking new vantage is currently at the dealers as they either sealed in a poor paint finish or they caused it. Don't do it.
To be fair, It was a nice sponge in a bag they gave me for my £500
I'm sure there's a retailer Sheffield way as a mates commented on one a few years back. If no one chimes in ill ask or try detailing world forum

I paid £300 for Pure guard "protection" when I bought my used DB9 from a dealership.
On collection, I complained that the car did not even look washed, let alone treated with Pure guard.
The dealership refunded my money and I got Paddy to give it some proper tlc.
My advice, don't agree to it and certainly don't pay for it. Waste of money.

Here I am.
I think jonby put it best. The dealers don't really car about the condition of the paint, but rather how much money they can make in selling you an average product that seals the defects in. The thing is, the sales staff know the condition of the paintwork isn't that great out of the factory, let alone on a used car. They have even told me that they don't have the time or resources to prep a car properly, yet they charge up to £700 to apply a sealant.
Nobody should ever go with the dealer applied option. For nearly the same money, you could have it detailed.
Mr Goddo was right, his car didn't look good when I first saw it, but it looks much better now. Even the sales/service guys commented on how much better the car looked now.
As most on here can testify, I will travel pretty much anywhere in the uk to give your p&j the attention it deserves. If anyone needs a new car detail or to rectify any dealer mistakes, just drop me a line. Im always here for advice etc too.
For future reference for anyone ive not worked for, here is what I charge.
For a one day enhancement detail its £350
This includes the usual wash, clay etc and for the larger cars, a single stage machine polish to remove the lighter swirls and restore depth and gloss, but for something like a vantage, I can do a 2 stage polish, which will remove a greater amount of defects.
Next is a 2 day detail, which is the same as above, but I am able to spend longer on the machine polishing, which will allow me to remove a lot more defects and in many cases up to 95% defect removal. This is £600.
With either detail, the car will be given 2 coats of £800 swissvax crystal rock, which will last up to a year. For even longer lasting protection, I can apply a glass coat sealant which will last much longer. This is an extra £100 though, as this is what it costs me to apply. For soft tops, they will be protected too.
Now and then, you come across a car that needs a lot of work, then its charged at £300 a day. The most time ive spent on a gaydon car was 4 days on a DBS after having been butchered by a dealer.
I prefer to work at clients houses, as i get to spend a lot more time on the car, as I don't have to stop at 5pm when they pack up and go home at 5:30. Many on here can testify how how long I spend on the car in a day.
Advice of course is always free.
