Yes they do look different however the trimmer might have been smoking something judging by the Velour hehe hence he might have trimmed them differently as i have looked and looked for seats like yours and come up a blank keep finding cars trimmed like the ones in Richards Car in the second picture.
will take one of his seats to the trimmers when we get the Tuscans seats done for reference

Yes, Odd.

I bought them from Steve, so they are bound to be correct. Also, I know which car they originally came from. Its possible that they may have been modified I suppose during the cars life time. The car itself was non standard and had been fitted with different seats, which is why these were available.

Original Tuscan V6 seats as fitted in Jan 1971.

Leathercloth bolsters and cord centres.

These seem to be less common than (and not as nice as) the same seats with the basketweave centres.

As Neil has said, the early S2 Vixens were fitted with the low back seats so the pair I have are not the right ones for my car. Having said that they are a whole lot better than the horrible bucket seats that were fitted when I bought it. These seats came out of an Anglia over 25 years ago and were stored in a loft. I found them on ebay and they were an absolute steal. They certainly look like the high-back TVR seats to me but I guess these are early after-market seats that were produced and fitted to a range of other cars. I think this seat was also fitted to some Ginetta and Clans as well as supplied to TVR.

John Haggas has a lovely Tuscan V6 which is a bit later than mine.

He has these chairs in it, which are very nice. They are the same fibreglass buckets as mine, but with the basketweave centres.

Years ago when I rebuilt my yellow vixen, I had no seats for it.
I purchased a pair of Tuscan seats, 1 of which I used, the other I kept & made a mould from.
I helped a friend out last year who wanted a pair of seats for his 1970 Tuscan.
Below is a pic of a fibreglass shell & a similar but trimmed version, in the orrible sweaty basketweave ! Cheers Ian

Mine originally looked like those Pat has but I had one high and one low back (???). They were steel framed though.

Yeah Tom they must have seen you coming biggrin .They are nice things in great nick. Google Karobes, they used to sell similar seats with the similar bolsters but lower backs. In typical '60's fashion they probably all came out of the same factory. (Badge engineering !!)

No worries. Many thanks to Mike as well for helping. These seats should have some frequent traveler miles in the bank that you could have used for an upgrade, Andrew! Those babies did enjoy the 15 years in So. Cal. Minus the freezing temps, snow and moisture!
Hope to see the refinished units soon!
Cheers,
D.

Make it up as you go the word standard keeps coming up but to be honest when tvr is concerned is there such a thing the older They get the standard is surely only a guide line ? As that's how tvr built them hand built with the parts available at the time . My seat frames are 1965 grandtura ???? I would have thought the same as yours but not the case both the seats we are doing have no cross rail as the back has a board screwed in a wrap around fashion ? And the hole seat cover back fits over like a glove. We will see all three pairs of seats done and have a photo line up ?not a price comparison!!!!!!! Or air miles. See you soon richard.

These seats were in a very early (1959) Grantura that we sold a while back. It had been in the same hands for over 40 years and had not been mucked about. (note also the rare original steering wheel)

That car is VERY correct and does indeed have the correct seats and steering wheel. That seat continued through to early Mk2,s and then the seat squab was changed but the frame was identical. Mk3s were different again.

The correct seats for a SWB, LWB Tuscan V8 and 1800S is in fact the seat which Astacus has and which was derided. Velour trim not to everyones taste but fashions change. Retrimmed in black leather with perforated black leather inserts, yummy.
