I normally buy my cars when they are 2-3 years old and have taken the worst of depreciation but still are generally sound mechanically. So with that in mind I will be replacing my current car in 2016/7 and so I am keeping my ear to the ground on the new models being released this year.

So what cars are you looking forward to seeing released this year so that you can buy them a few years down the line?

For me its the new C class in estate guise, hopefully should tick all the boxes for kids, bikes, dog in a good looking package at a decent price. If circumstances where different without children and other financial commitments it would be the F-Type coupé but for now I can but dream, maybe in 10-12 years I could run one as a weekend car.

Techincally last year but the Mercedes CLA I would have now if I could afford it. Would have to be the AWD one and ideally the 45 AMG!

Also like the look of the new C-Class saloon.

BMW i3 Range Extender with all the options ticked on the optional 19" Turbine alloys boxedin

My local dealer who are currently unable to sell them (no servicing) had one to demo to customers so I took it out for an extended test drive. Just loved it (I know, strange!!).

Pretty dam nippy when you use the throttle (at any speed, it just picks up instantly), really comfortable, fully spec'd you would never run out of toys, just a really nice place to be. And really quite surreal wafting alone in virtual silence mile after mile.

The whole experience just felt good. Jump in, press the start button, and apart from the little jingle and both screens coming to life.... nothing happens, just silence. Select drive, pull away... nothing but tyre noise (not too loud). Bizarre. 7.9sec to 62 feels really strange when it is just a continuous uninterrupted surge forward in pretty much total silence.

I will admit that I did expect to enjoy the drive, but I really didn't expect to want one by the end of it.

If you want a good car you buy the last of the outgoing model (all the bugs ironed out and quite often a few goodies added on)

Peugeot RCZ R. Looks stunning, and seems to be Peugeot getting back on form.

Circumstances depending, F-type, C63 or GT86. All once they are much older than your 2/3year criteria though

While we pick up our M135i tomorrow, I'm exited about the M3 - weight cutting AT LAST and some decent torque.

I'm a bit stuck here as in 3 years it will be baby time so my main car will have to be drab and I'm not sure on a second car, second car is supposed to be a bit special.

Alfa 4c, however I don't think its value will drop like other Alfas.

Will be keeping an eye on 981 boxsters to gauge reliability.
