Drivers door lock not depressing but unlocking

I have a 1995 Chim with buttons behind door to open doors.

Tonight, I stupidly depressed the button as I was locking the car. Now when I unlock the car, the button on the drivers door does not depress all the way (it sticks) and will not pop the door open. When I lock the car, the car is locked but again the drivers button does not now depress fully as it should do when locked.
I can get in via the passenger door, and the locking system seems ok. Its just that the plunger seems to have done something weird!! I can also lock from central locking and also I can open the drivbers door with the internal knob.

Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Fixed it.

The mechanism is pretty simple to understand once inside the car!!!

Lesson learnt.

If you have an older Chim with buttons behind door do not touch the buttons until the car is fully locked or unlocked!! (ie you have heard the clicks).

First day of winter here (south of England), ice on car. Still going to drive it thru winter though!!

Hi, just seen this.
Yeah, I've been caught out by the same thing a couple of times (the door release just sinks).

Anyway, good for you using the car during the winter months- it will be more than capable. My Chimaera is my only car and is happily used sun or snow.

One piece of advice though: buy some de-icer before the really cold weather kicks in as these large door buttons can freeze solid if the car lives outside!

Thanks for the tip. But if the mechanism is frozen exactly where do you spray the de-icer? On a normal car I'd spray in the keyhole but on a Chimaera?

I have suffered from the same door lock problem (pressing to early). I normally find that if you unlock, lock then unlock it normally returns to normal.
