Forgot the rules!

Just been too heavy footed!
Too many revs overtaking in icey conditions on duel carriageway after leaving lights.
Car swings violently to right to hit central reservation and rebounds left into full 360 just missing all cars around. Ends up straight on heading in correct direction. Lucky coz gonna cost me for just one anthracite alloy. Feel a dick. Looked a dick. Am a dick. DONT FORGET THE SIMPLE RULES. Be careful, its in need of respect.

Was doing 60 in an NSL zone on Thursday night, scarily similar outcome, different situation... was starting to pull round a parked car on a near single-track road, just as a white van tried to overtake me(!) Had to slam on the brakes to avoid running into either of them. Guess I was a bit too heavy footed/road was wetter/icier than i thought... rear wheels locked up and car was fishtailing all over the place, ending up bouncing off a high kerb.
Result: 2x fractured "spider legs" = 1x new wheel for the rear. Thankfully, HHC had one in stock, and it's all sorted.
Lesson: Just cos it's great in the dry doesn't mean it's great in wet & icy conditions. And even if you are driving sensibly, it doesn't mean everyone else will... Take care, all.

those are both minor incidents, i borrowed my uncles griff 500 for a trip accross the alps a few years ago.Luckily it was insured to me too. i gave it too much gas and wrapped it round a tree then had to lie there bleeding in the snow for half an hour until another car came by, luckily he was kind enough to give me a lift to the hospital. my chest now looks like it's been scribbled over with a craft knife

It doesn't have to be icy either. Earlier this year a few days after they had gritted the M25 and a very dry, sunny day, I came off sliproad onto the carriageway on full power to overtake a very slow van that was joining in front of me.
Suddenly the revs went high and the car lurched sideways. I remember being on autopilot trying to stop the fishtailing and after about six of them, the car stabilised, much to the relief of the rush hour traffic.
While I was in the depths of the fishtailing, I kept thinking how the police would view the whole incident!
Quite shook up after that and vowed never to go on full power ever again until (a) straight and (b) a totally dry (as my mouth was afterwards!) summer's day and (c) I was fully aware of what I was doing.
Sometimes I feel there ought to be an override switch for full power on the Tuscan - you press it, an alarm goes off with flashing red lights and a voice says "Are you really, really sure?" !!

Strike two...
So, having spent most of the weekend running round sourcing new wheels and tyres, finding somewhere that'd fit them at 5.30pm, carefully checking the suspension, etc. for damage, I set off back down to Derby on Sunday afternoon. Pull off onto the A38, where there are roadworks at the top - it narrows from 2 lanes to one for a few miles. Artic in the lane that's about to come to a dead-end doesn't notice that I'm in the other (only) lane and pulls straight across into me. Result: same b*stard corner of the car's been stoved in again.
Thankfully I managed to block the road before he could drive off (wish I'd managed it with the first accident), and have witnesses who saw him do it, so at least it should go on his company's policy.
Very upset.

Bloody hell James, that car of yours is jinxed. Have you had a week pass without incident yet?

Scary thing is, with each thing that happens/gets fixed, I actually have MORE faith in the car after it's sorted???
