Hi there

Never had to overlap insurance before but my new car (330d Touring) arrives next wednesday and I have yet to sell the current vehicle (Kia Sportage). My current insurance is via a broker with Allianz and they want a largish hike over the online quotes I have had (From approx. £270 to £460) even with my 7 year NCD taken into account. Still this seem the most pain free route taking into account the following....when I then contact the companies from the online quotes (the usual websites) I then find that because I want to keep the original vehicle insured for a couple of weeks the premium goes up massively due to the fact the no claims is still applied to the original car and cannot be re-applied until that policy is ended/cancelled. I get a computer says no kind of response

Does anyone else have any experience or advice on how to do this overlap simply and cheaply?

Thanks in advance

Temporary insurance will likely be the most hassle free and cheapest option. Depending on how long it takes to shift the other car.

Thanks chap
Would take a minimum of two weeks so perhaps not economical as close to the original quote

Ah well

Churchill offered this free for 4 weeks when I had this situation just before Christmas.

I'm with NFU, when I was in this position they covered me for a pro rata amount based on the original premium whilst giving me full discount on the new vehicle. They just asked me to let them know as soon as I sold it, couldn't have been any easier.
