According to Classic Car Weekly (Thursday, 11th Nov, Pagre 3), the DfT are claiming that a quarter of all road crashes causing death or serious injury are sleep related.

Seems the DfT dream up whatever figures they like to support their current campaign . . . not something they do very often then.

Seems to be alot of weirdo's making things up off the top of their heads, some guy from Roadpeace was quoted saying that at 145mph it was 100meters per second. Now, I may be wrong, but I thought that was 200mph?

145mph is about 64 m/s
100m/s is about 223mph.

So we have 1/3 caused by speed and 1/4 caused by sleep. That leaves 5/12 (less than 40%) for everything else. If they go on much longer even the dumbest inhabitant of UK will get the feeling something's not quite right with the stats. Let's hope that's not too long....
