Question about holiday entitlement
Discussion
Hi guys my first post on pistonheads so feel free to rip the piss out of me
Does this sound right to you, I wont go into all the details unless it helps..
I get my holiday entitlement in hours and what my employer has done is take my weekly contracted hours of 41.5 and divided it by 5 (as in 5 working days in a week)to give me 1 days holiday entitlement of 8.3 hours..
This is what is bugging me because I don't work 5 days a week I work 4 days same shift pattern every week, so in my eyes my employer should of taken my contracted weekly hours of 41.5 and divided it by 4 (my actual working days in a week) this would give me 1 days holiday entitlement of 10.4 hours..
I am the only employee at the company working 4 days a week and so no one else is affected or bothered. I also work 12 hour shifts for 3 of those days so the more hours I can get the better for me. What do you think guys have I got a point or should I just shut up and get on with the job...
Total holiday hours for the year.
33 (total days in holidays a year)
33*8.3= 274 (my current yearly entitlement in hours that my employer has worked out)
What I think it should be.
33 (total days in holidays a year)
33*10.4= 343 (What I think my yearly total should be taking the 4 day a week I work into account)

The statutory entitlement is 232 hours and 24 minutes holiday.

at least they work it out in hours
the number of hours you take is the number of hours deducted from your 'balance' ...
'days' holiday is a bit of misnomer and it's a pain to try and get some people to understand that it;s all worked in hours especially where there are multiple shift patterns in an organisation
