Possibly a daft question and maybe insulting to the Merc fans sorry, but are Merc offering any strong deals on the A45 AMG? I hadn't considered the M135i until I managed to negotiate (and subsequently changed my mind) a discount of 18%. Wishful thinking but if Merc were offering similar deals, I'd sign on the dotted line.

As I say though, probably wishful thinking as used car prices are still high 30's.

The lack of supply in the UK means any dealer discounting them need their heads read!!

No discount and they've removed all the apr help/ dealer deposit contributions on the heavy stuff to pile it on the outgoing C to get rid of them for the new model being launched.

I was looking before Christmas and the dealers had a lightly optioned demonstrator that listed at £45K for sale at £40K. The mileage was about 750.

BTW, Drivethedeal are currently offering 3%

I had an A45 for a few days last week thinking there could be massive discounts available, apparently there is no chance at the moment. Was reminded that the last AMG that I bought from them was discounted by £60k so should think of an A45 as being a freebie.

Just put a deposit down on a high spec'd demo car. I've been watching the market very closely for 3-4 months now.

Demo cars seem to sell for 38-44k, depending on spec. You should be able to save around 5k from the list price - they normally sell around 4 weeks from the final day of their 3 month demo contract. The 46k+ demo's dont seem to sell.

AMG reserved a huge chunk of capacity for the launch of the CLA45 - and this kept A45 leadtimes and prices high. So check out how the CLA45 is selling - my view is that after march, most will favor the CLA... and deals will be had on the A45.

I managed to get around 99% of what I wanted + save 6k... but its a boring game of cat and mouse, with endless spec checks.

Looking forward to having a play.

Bizarre.
It has been a year since I tried the first London demo. Sales guy was very pushy and reckoned that they were selling like hot cakes, hence no deals or discounts to be had.

One year on, I've seen maybe 2 on the road. In London. Not such a huge success after all?

£500pcm vs. C63 / RS4 at £600...... or Golf R at £250..... or M135i at £300.....

The UK Q3 allocation is apparently all sold and Q4 is highly limited, so MB must be happy with volumes. It may be that MB have decided to limit production volumes.

Playing with howmanyleft suggests sales have virtually matched the S3 during 2013. Obviously the m135i shifted in far greater volumes and Q1 '14 data isn't around yet to show how well Golf R sales have been doing, but I expect these to be very buoyant. It will be interesting to see how well residuals hold up on the golf at 24 months out when the leasing companies come to defleet en-mass. I don't necessarily agree with the CAP figure for best in class residuals by quite a margin.

Not seen an S3 on the road to be honest. Seen 1 Golf R (a neighbour), a few M135i's, no A45's outside dealership. Live in Manchester fwiw. I think they're all low volume compared to the main models. 90% of these manufacturer's outputs seem to be 2litre diesels.

Yep, all these mega hatches will be rare cars on the road. I saw quite a few on a day's visit to Monaco though...

I've seen a stack of 135i's, R's and S3's (not the saloon) but not a single A45 or CLA45.

I do have a friend who has an A45 as a company car but that's it.

I am also interested in a CLA45, but specced less than my C63 Coupe it's still £52k.

No lease deals at all, so I will likely get a new M3 next as there are and will be some good deals. The M3 can be had leased for the same price as a CLA45 and is much faster, better looking and better specced.

Bonkers
