Which all day bib shorts

Looking for a step up from my usual DHB and Pearl Isumi, up to £125. Getting a bit 'numb' after 4+ hours.

Recommendations with how they size/measure up please. I'm DHB Medium, 5'11 & 32" waist.

Castelli, Assos or Rapha.

Rapha might be out of budget.

A Castelli large would fit you snugly. I'm your size/slightly bigger and have a castelli large.

I find my rapha shorts more comfy than my assos, but either are what I would go with for an all day ride!

More stock of Assos ... LG (for height) or XL (for waist) though...

Castelli all day long, i have a pair of shorts and leggings, never get an numb arse on long rides with them.

If you don't mind me saying though they might be a little... slim fitting for you.

I personally wouldn't recommend Castelli, my pair of Velocissimo Dues are crap quality and I'll never buy anything made by them again.

Many thanks. Plumped for Castelli Nanoflex in the end before they went out of stock, £67 which appears good value. A few mates wear Castelli and one who is a tad smaller & fitter than me says LG is snug on him, so I'll try the XL.

I've never had a problem with the dhb Aeron Pro shorts.

I found the padding a bit thin on a long ride with the dhb's.

But I found the lusso pro gel bibs a great fit and comfy on six hour plus rides

I use a pair of Giordana bibs on the Three Peaks, no problems to report. No problems with my Castelli or Northwave bibs either. Either Charge Spoons or Brooks B17s on my bikes.

I wear Northwave bibs (long and short) - longest time in saddle is 8 hours and no problems! (well numb bum ones anyhow!!)

These are by far my favourite bibs, and yes they are a bit tight so usually worth going up one size.

The dhb range have various pad thicknesses, I have a pair with 3/5 thickness which are useable and a pair 4/5 which are much better, I'd imagine the top of the range 5/5 are great.

Joking asides, your numbness is much more likely attributable to your saddle than bibs
Get a new saddle as 'numb knob' can cause some pretty serious problems in the long run

Fizik Aliante Gamma, which is a perfect fit for me. No, it is the shorts/pad combo. Did nearly 5 hours today in the Pearls, with DHB tights on top and was OK actually. Got some mega rides later in the year though so time to try something a price grade up, and get accustomed to them.
