Restaurant Recommendations Needed - Old Compton St area

Going to the Palace Theatre next weekend near Old Compton Street in London, and want to have a meal before we go - I'm not familiar with the area so can anyone recommend anywhere to eat that will still likely have bookings available?

Will eat anything except Chinese and not looking for anything mega expensive - any suggestions gratefully received!

Bistro 1 in Frith St. Nice food and bargain basement prices for the West End. Then after the show, a cup of coffee/tea sitting outside Balans on the corner of Old Compton St and Frith St, just people watching. Man, you see some sights. Once saw a beautiful tall supermodel type girl in a silver top and killer heals, totally naked from the waist down!!!
