Wilderness Scotland MTB trips

Has anyone been on, or know anyone, that has done one of the Mountain Bike trips/holidays with Wilderness Scotland?

They sound very professional and well organised, I absolutely love the Highlands and used to be a bit of a Mountian Bike fanatic in my teens. I have sporadic bouts of enthusiasm to do more cycling, although in general my fitness and bike skills are not what they were at all which is a small concern, these do sound pretty intensive.

Really like the look of the West Highlands trip, around Skye, Harris and Torridon or the coast to coast sounds good. They're around a grand for the 5 days guide-led cycling, accomodation and transport back to start location. I know the similar can be achieved with a group of mates, but I have very few cycling buddies now and the local knowledge of the guide I bet is invaluable.

Not much in it really with the B&B option, especially as it seems you have to organise a group yourself with these guys?

I may have misunderstood their site but it seemed to be a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'd be inclined to do loads of research regarding routes online, then buy a few OS maps, then spend a bit here and do it solo. Scotland has far more public access land than England and you can wild camp pretty much anywhere providing you stick to some basic common sense. Wildcat gear is really good quality, bivvy bag, quality sleeping bag and you're sorted. Falling asleep under the stars is awesome and you should be able to fend for yourself for a few days easily enough without having to hunt and skin a rabbit or drink your pee.

Yes it looks like it can be much cheaper if you have your own group of 4 or more and stay in hostels, and they are also 7 day trips rather than 5 too.

Hmm Pablo, I like the thinking! If I had adventurous mates I'd be up for that, maybe not solo though.
