Hi all

I have just removed the below from the forward part of the transmission tunnel as its clearly seen better days. Looks like a standard foam with a heat reflective/resistant material on one side. Guessing this is why I have never suffered from a burnt hand or hot knob (no sniggering in the back) when changing gear.

The foam and foil are already bonded together and it appears that thats how its always been, rather than just sticking the 2 together. I'd rather have the foam backing again rather than just the matting thats used in the engine bay.

Has anyone ever replaced this ? Any ideas on where to get some ?

Thanks chaps, but I'm really after the material that has a foam backing (guessing there was foam on it for a reason). Not just the heat stuff on its own.

If its not available anymore then no big deal.

Might be worth talking to the man anyway.
He seems unusually happy to come up with pretty much anything you require in that way.
The replacement engine bay heat shield for mine looks good, and the mechanic said it was a good fit, and looked good quality to him (and he has been doing TVRs for a while).

He (the vendor) also sells the basic materials to make your own if I remember correctly.
