Just got back from the local car wash and found that they have blown the lacquer off my rear arch.
Is it hard luck, or do I have a right to go back and complain? be good to hear your thoughts.

Cheers R.T.

I don't think you'll get anywhere. It also looks like the wheel arch liner is damaged, maybe not the car wash?

Hard luck i'd say. I had a stone chip on my bumper and they managed to remove a 3 inch diameter of pain.

Just hard luck, and up to me to repair.

You certainly have the right to complain.

Equally, they have the right to tell you to FRO.

What were you after, a full respray?

Looks like a bit of paint bubbling. Its not the car wash fault it took the lacquer off as they will have done the same process on countless other vehicles.

Yep!

Looks like an old/poor repair. (And no doubt Car Wash will have a suitable disclaimer)

Think the car wash has un-earthed a CAT D .

Ohhhh my cars got some rear arch damage, needs sorting.

I'll take it to the car wash, blame them and sue them for a full respray, courtesy car (S Class Merc minimum) and damage for emotional distress.

Nice try.

If it was a full detail using wax derived from boiling down virgin unicorns at 50k a tub then you might have some comeback.

If it was a £5 handjob from a slack jawed Bosnian, you're fked.

Teaches me to letting them take their sand blasting / power washers to my car!
After a closer inspection it seems there is the start of some minor corrosion beneath the arch liner so it was only a matter of time, I suppose.

I'll have to ring the bodyshop, this will send my car OCD crazy smile

Are you still talking about car washes?

If the lacquer was damaged - either by a stone chip or what looks like the paint bubbling up due to rust - then the usual pressure washer at point blank range will take the lacquer off nicely.
High pressure water - albeit with stuff in it - is used to cut concrete & steel so what chance has your paint got?
I always advise nozzle no nearer than a metre when used on bodywork.
And yes, I did have an occasion when I forgot my own advice & took a palm sized piece of lacquer off the bonnet of my own carweeping
