Outdoor Covers
Discussion
My first post on the Forum… and I had hoped to be posting pictures of a new car!!! However, I am still putting together my homework before taking the plunge. Unfortunately the car will have to stay outside for the first few months and I am looking at buying a good outdoor cover. I know the merits of whether to use one or not have been discussed, but I was wondering if anyone has bought the Aston Ultimate cover…. does it look any good and was it worth the extra cost? A couple of photos would be very useful… though I know no-one wants to show their pride and joy in it's sleeping bag! If you went to one of the other specialist manufacturers, how did the result turn out? I am trying to avoid buying something that looks like an old sack!!! All knowledge is power and it may be useful if I go down the dealer route.
Grateful for the help an no doubt you'll see some more postings and replies… once I can actually say I am 'in the club'.

I use the fitted cover from Hamilton Classics. Fitted, not tailored and despite the howling gales we have had, it has not come adrift at all.

I did not quite have it fitted forward enough on this pic but its the only pic I had. I love the blue cover shown above but did not want to advertise what was sitting there unattended. I use tyre shields tucked in the cover to hide/protect the wheels too. (not shown in pic).
Is the pic of the blue cover superimposed on a false background? There is something very strange about that pic!

It's a black cover actually. That and the strange background effects all courtesy of the slightly artificial world of Instagram. The car wears the cover when I'm away at the parent's because there are many trees around which create much mess on anything in the vicinity. I have put it on back home in the garage as well though to be honest. She looked cold.http://www.ebay.com/itm/331108419704?ssPageName=ST...
Saw this on FleaBay… anyone with a cold Rapide!? Now I'm answering my own thread but actually this looks pretty good if I am forced down this route.
No commission or links to the sale - promise - but it caught my eye.

Covers are fine if you leave the car for a week at a time, say. But if you use the car most days, covers are a real faff to keep taking on and off.
You shouldn't put the cover on when the car is wet, or too hot.
If it gets windy the cover will blow about or even off unless it is well secured down.
If you secure it down with straps they can catch under tyres and door mirrors etc.
Trying to pass/thro the strap under the car from one side to the other is an art.
If you take the cover off when the car is wet, what do you do with it? If you put in in the boot it will go mouldy. So you have to drag it into the house and find somewhere to put it.
I've had two covers now for my 'other' car (the Aston gets the garage) and I've found them a real pain. If the car didn't leak and have red paint that faded I wouldn't have bothered.

It's probably a little pointless replying to my own post, but... in case someone is looking at the thread in the future, I thought I would add the photo below. This is fitted on a V8V; I am really pleased that I went for the Aston Ultimate Cover, and as you can see, the tailoring is excellent...
Mind you, there is something perverse about putting a cover on when the weather is so beautiful, but I promise it has just had a good drive... and the cover is easily removed when I get the urge!!!

However we did take it skiing with us and even after a heavy snowfall the car remained dry so I'd go for it if you want to keep the car looking good.
