Hey guys my first gen xbox just red ring'd for the first time frown

Now all I play is COD and GTA with 2 mates online and after seeing the line up of the the latest gen consoles I cancelled both my orders.

Anyway as I say don't game all that much but I do use Sky Go *cough* quite a bit and don't want to be without it.

So I'm in a quandary do I buy a replacement or wait and see if sky launch Go on the xboxone.... (All rumors suggest they aren't due to launching their pay as you go sky app)

Ahhhh tbh I went into game and preferred the look and feel of the PS4 but it seems a lot of money for something I just not using every night.

Any deals on ATM for a xbox360 (btw I've got £80 tied up in game vouchers due to cancelling the pre orders I'd made)

Thanks.

Stick with the 360, I replaced mine last month, still at least 12 months constant supply of games to come I would expect, if not longer.

Lots of deals, think Argos had £119 for 250gb, worth seeing if game will match it

Support for the 360 is dying a death, there are some games still to come but it's well and truly in it's twilight now. Also, if Sky can launch a pay as you go app, why would they not also launch this on the 360 and withdraw support for their current app? Sky don't strike me as the sort of company who don't want to make money.

They've said that the Xbox 360 will receive support for at least 2 more years.

However that's Microsoft saying that not developers, so although they might continue to support it with their games it doesn't mean that 3rd party developers will.

I think given how well the next gens have sold already it won't take very long for the emphasis to shift solely onto next gen.

A lot of multi platform games will still release on 360 for quite awhile. there are tens of millions of consoles out there so it is a huge market.

There will be a big correlation between how quickly people jump to the Xbone and how quickly support for the 360 stops.

I don't have any metrics to hand but a good example would be the switch from ps2 to ps3. The PS3 had a slow start and the PS2 was a very strong console with a good line up of games....so it kep going for a very long time. Sony were still releasing revisions of PS2 hardware well past when the PS3 was launched...

I think! you'd need to check dates etc

a LOT of Xbones have been sold, but not as many as PS4's, and the general impression is that it could be/will be great but it needs some killer games and 6/12 months work on the OS.

I reckon its a great time to own a 360 - over christmas they ran some hefty discounts on a good number downloadable games and it looks like thats potentially going to continue throughout the year.

I am not bothered about having the latest games so by holding onto the 360 I will be able to buy all the titles I didn't want to spend £40 on new once they have been heavily marked down.

Picked up Fez, Deadlight, I am Alive, Hit Man Absolution, The Bridge, State of Decay and Far Cry 2 for less than £16 total!

I think it will be about a year or more before the XBone will have enough of a back catalogue to tempt me into buying one. I came to the 360 party nearly 2 years late and even then the available games were still pretty thin on the ground!

You're right that they will still support them for a while, in fact MS said themselves, this isn't like previous gens where they give up on the old gen and focus on the new gen, 360 will run side by side with the one for a while, and it will have to, as the Xbone's lack of uptake from customers means they still need the 360.

next gen uptake was not as large as expected.

I give it a minimum of a year with the 360 still getting all the latests releases, before developers start focussing on next gen consoles, they will be limiting themselves to 10% of the potential customer base if they don't, think how many people have a 360 vs those who have a One? 100:1 ? 1000:1?

This, 360 support will continue for a while, previous gens have, hell, they only just stopped releasing PS2 games last year, that's a looooong time after the PS3.

I'm so sure of the fact the 360 is going to remain current, I've just invested in a second console for the bedroom. Some great deals to be had second hand if you grab them, as people 'upgrade' to the new consoles.

If your original 360 is anything like mine was, the fans go like a hairdryer. A slim or new slim will be a lot quieter, and you'll get stuff like the built in wifi and a big hard drive.

there will still be a few games being released for the 360 but Microsoft have said that xbox live services will be cut in 2016.
