Insurance renewal time - help needed please!
Discussion
It's that time of year again and I've had an Admiral multi-car policy for quite a few years now but as always they've come back with a high quote; basically £1k total for both cars. I went online and did the confused thing and got quotes for exactly the same level of cover with Admiral for £600 total - this annoys me because they aren't trying to be competitive from the outset.
However, I've had some very good quotes come in on the 911 but I don't know how good the insurance companies are if/when something goes wrong. Admiral wanted over £600 on initial renewal letter. So details are as follows:-
Swift Cover = £270
AXA = £275
Swift Cover Plus = £300
Priviledge = £365
So does anyone have good or bad experiences with the above companies to help me make the right choice!
Cheers in advance,
David

I've just had my multicar renewal through, same deal as you. Quoted a £650 renewal fee and quotes of £368 through a comparison site for both cars with the same company.
A quick call to my present insurer to inform them of my cancellation resulted in them meeting the online quote. It's a stunt they pull every year to try and profit from the idle customers who don't shop around.
Give them a call and see what they'll do. Failing that, start up your new policy as per your online quote and then instruct them to not renew your present policy.

Not sure what the premium will look like, but I rate Direct Line.
I got hit from the rear whilst stationary in traffic. The guilty party was very sorry at the scene but then tried the 'actually, I can't be sure the driver in front didn't reverse into me..' a few days later...
I was dreading a lazy 50/50 settlement, but Direct Line got on the case, did whatever they needed to do, and the quick result came back as 'non fault claim - cost incurred £0'. Didn't put my premium up either, in fact the renewal was slightly less.
For that reason I've been with them for years. I must be the right profile for them as the best anyone else does is get within a couple of quid. All I would say is that you have to run a quote online to get the right price each year - they don't take the piss massively like some, but their renewal is always a cheeky 10%ish up on the new customer quote. An annual 2min phone call sorts that out though.
I often think that it's about value, not price. A cheap quote on paper sounds great until you actually have to use the service you have purchased and find out they are utter rubbish - at which point it's all a bit too late.

Try Greenlight. Very good. Quoted 1500 on mine from comparison sites, covered me for 850 ish, though I am relatively young with a modified Fiesta ST.
I'm with these guys and have been for as long as I can remember. Great guys and always very helpful. Thankfully never had to claim but they seem a good bunch and premiums are always competitive. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
