Hi all,

I know there are some clever people on here when it comes down to tech, so I am after some advice please if possible!

I am looking to buy a Samsung UE55F7000 LED TV to wall mount on a chimney breast. I have looked at a few others, but between my GF and I we have decided that this is the set we want.

The thing I haven't got a clue about is what to do with the sound system. Outgoing will be my old LG HT462DZ (which is just a basic 2.1 system with DVD player / amp)

I went into a few shops today and I have been recommended a Pioneer VSX-S510-S - after looking into it, it seems like a good bit of kit, and will mean I won't have to chase as many cables into the wall as everything can run through it.

I haven't got a clue though about where to start with speakers though. I want a 2.1 system really, as I don't have the space for a 5.1 set up.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Oh and I will also need a Blu-Ray / DVD player, so again, suggestions welcome on that too.

Thanks in advance,

James

I have (almost) the same telly (UE55F8000), and had the same problem - not much space but want surround sound.

Did a lot of research and ended up buying a sound projector - Yamaha YSP-2200. Integrates really well with the telly (turn it on and the telly will detect it and mute the internal speakers etc). Lots of inputs for BD player, console etc.

Review: http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Yamaha-YSP-2200/

I think you can get them for less than £600 now.

Blu-Ray player? I bought the Samsung BD-F6500. Works fine and once again the integration with the TV is very good.

Thanks for the replies folks smile

I am becoming more and more confused as I start to research this!!

Currently looking at either of these set ups:

2.1 Q Acoustics Q7000i Speaker Package (Cost: £545)

http://exceptional-av.co.uk/q-acoustics-q7000i-2-1...

or the other option is to make a package using the following:

2 x Cambridge Audio Minx 21's https://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-sp...

1 x Minx X300 sub https://www.richersounds.com/product/subwoofers/ca...

(Total Cost: £550)

In terms of the Amp, now leaning toward a Yamaha RX-V375 after seeing the review in What Hi-Fi mag - especially since it can be had for £179!!. http://exceptional-av.co.uk/yamaha-rx-v375-av-rece...

Will it be OK matched to either of the above speaker packages?
