What things spring to mind that a manufacturer offers(ed) but hasn't really captured the imagination. Are head up displays commonplace?

I recall some citroen c5s had the option to have little aromatherapy cartridges to slot into the dash. I couldn't see those being produced for very long.

Not as commonplace as they should be! I think they're great.

Think this still comes as an option on some Citröens now. Don't see why anyone would want it though.

Illuminated sill plates on Jaguar XJ's, a snip at £1222. I can't imagine it's a popular option.

My new car has HUD. A small screen that pops up on top of the binnacle and displays speed, turn by turn navigation, CC info and LDWS - I think it's one of those things that is only just filtering down, but will become more commonplace over the next few years

I could never understand parking sensors on something really small, like a 206.

Ford do those on the B-Max and Fiesta for £200-£300.

They will undoubtedly become more commonplace as time goes on. My favourite implementation of this tech is where the info is beamed onto the windscreen, it's very sexy. As in the Citroen C6:

Well...they kinda have...

I think the posted meant an active ram as in Honda Preludes etc.

Yeahh; however you would, wouldn't you? I would; a car like that, you may as well go the whole hog.

Both the boot chute and integrated bike rack on the Modus and I seem to remember an integrated bike rack was also an option on the Corsa too, I can't imagine it's still available as an option on the Corsa anymore though.
