So for a bit of amusement I thought I'd start a thread on...

What bits have fallen off your Wedge while driving?

(Not counting crashes, just normal driving along)

I'll kick off, let's work back in reverse order:

A handbrake pad
An exhaust tailpipe
Another exhaust tailpipe (this one I found and reattached).
Exhaust centre box bolts
Rubber trim from the mullet section.

A rear bumper (half off, anyway)
A front spoiler (OK that was a little 'off' into a hedge).
Another handbrake pad.
Various spanners from the engine bay that I forgot about (I stopped the car and got some back)

The nut that holds on the windscreen wiper.

(Just remembered)...The catch tank became unstuck and was hanging down by the bell housing...And i nearly lost the power steering pump pulley due to no thread lock being used!....Ziga

We were on a tvrcc run out to Waterlooville on a duel carriageway when a wedge bonnet flew off in the outside lane, yikes the image of the Cerbera following taking evasive action has stayed with me,clap we all had a bloody good laugh about it afterwards, laugh the wedge turned up at our meet half an hour late with his scratched bonnet re-attached but otherwise non the worse for wear.irked
Always check ya bonnet bolts.shout

I was out one night in a Wedge I used to own a few years back. As I pulled into a pub car park I noticed a few people were admiring my car, so I thought I'd put the headlights up and do a bit of posing, when one of the complete headlight units fell out the pod. Luckily it didn't smash and was hanging just off the ground by its wires. This incident cramped my style a little and I quickly took the headlight off, put it in the boot and went in the pub for a quick drink.

Nut holding on the alternator belt pulley on went AWOL, had to be towed up from that one as it is the same belt that turns the water pump. Luckily found the pulley between 2 chassis rails

Brand new dust covers...fitted them one day, took the car to pump the tyres up at the petrol station and put them on the wiper..drove off and kept hearing A funny scatchy sound up the screen!

Ball joint! Didn't come out the car but they fell apart at 60mph...

In the maser, I drove over a bump and the windscreen washer tank (stupidly inside the front wing) fell out and I drove over it!!! Huge noise, mess and embarrassment as it happened the road next to where I work!

+1 for a rear bumper, no impact involved.

Rear and front bumper, rear and front spoiler, impact with tyre barrier at Silverstone involved.

Top tip check your hub nut has a split pin and a hole for it to go through ! It had worn the shock away

That was quite common when the wedges were racing. that and the alloy rear hub carriers snapping.

The hub nut on that side isnt handed so it unscrews. we had ours locktited and pinned and still lost a nut ( thankfully in park ferme after the race - makes for some interesting handling)

In the end we ditched split pins and just checked the hub nuts with a mahoosive torque wrench every time it went on track..

Front anti-roll bar bush clamp; it fell off (clang) when it snapped whilst making reasonable progress on some interesting twisty roads. Replaced with Ford item, that bizarrely broke and fell off (clang) a year or so later on the same road. Steve Heath kit fixed that, although even more bizarrely I then ran over (clang) someone else's broken anti-roll bar bush clamp on the same road a few months after fitting the SH kit.

The same road also claimed the brace for the front mudguard on my 'bike, broke and made nasty noises under braking.

2 wheels nuts on the 400. I taken the wheels of at home to adjust the rear suspension, drove to Dover, caught a ferry, did the Continental Meeting including the trackday at Zolder, and afterwards drove about 100 miles into Germany for a holiday. Driving slowly in town, I could hear a rattling, and after some head-scratching, removed the centre cap and found 2 nuts completely off, and the others very loose. I'd obviously not properly tightened them when replacing the wheels several hundred miles and one trackday earlier.
