Do you ever feel that way when trying to discuss cars with people that have no passion for them?

I went to a car show recently with the wife and in-laws, and it wasn't too bad. It was mainly the car dealerships in the area in one big room showing off their models. They didn't have anything new.

Anyway, my father in law was absolutely shocked to see a Porsche 911 for $133,000, and then stated that you could buy 8 Hyundai Elantras (Vauxhall Astra size car) for that price.

They were also impressed to see the electric cars with the EPA miles per gallon of 119, even though I suspect those figures are biased in some way to make them sound more impressive than they actually are.

I guess I'm just different in that my priorities when looking for a car begin with how it drives and how it sounds. I seem to be in the minority over here.

I know there have been threads about this on here before, but I was just shocked that someone would consider buying 8 dishwashers (Hyundai Whitegood) over 1 Porsche 911.

There just doens't seem any point trying to explain my passion to people because they wouldn't understand. I'm fine with that though. I try not to let it bother me, as there are a lot more important things in life.

Oh and in case anyone didn't know, I've recently relocated to California, and mostly spend my time getting pissed off at how little people decide to indicate over here.

I tend not to get to bothered about it, after all, I'm sure a food fan would find me tiresome, as I really don't give a damn about fine food, I would that dick saying '£100 a head, fk off Ill buy something from Lidl and cook it at home'.

Cali has some awesome roads by the looks of it, get up there and have a hoon with Jay Leno!

Car people are in the few, but then true enthusiasts in anything, always are, that's why we're enthusiasts not the norm.

Yeah it can do. I'm near the beach though so they are a bit of a trek from where I am. Also as I've just gotten here I have been rolling in a 2003 Toyota Camry which in no way wills me to go to those roads.
