Depends on your experience and confidence driving. I threw myself straight in to Brands as my first trackday, but been doing things like autosolos and fast road driving for years beforehand.
Generally airfields are the considered the best starting point as there are huge runoffs and are dead flat.
Brands Indy is fairly easy to get the basics learnt due to only having 5 real bends, however throw some rain in and bends like Paddock Hill can get scary.

Another vote for Bedford here. Flat as anything so you're never unsighted, loads of runoff, predictable surfacing. Not the most exciting of tracks, but ideal for a beginner.

Failing that, and I know it's a trek, but Anglesey should be considered as well for the same reasons. Well, apart from the flat bit. wink Very good circuit for noobs as it's very wide, and you still get loads of runoff too. It's also a fantastic track in any configuration, so more than worth the trip. I live in Essex, and I've done Anglesey more times than any other track because it's that good.

My first day was at Snetterton, I would recommend Snetterton or Bedford.

Go with a few guys/girls from here, get some pax laps from them and above all have fun.

But before you go on track, book tuition, either let the instructor take you for a lap in your car or let them guide you round so you do not pick up
bad habits.

Bedford or a Brand Novice only day.

I took a friend, who is well experianced on the road, as a passenger on a busy Brands day with quick cars - it was pretty clear he would have been out of his comfort zone by some margin.

Bedford is very big and open, so even on busy days, it can be peaceful and on your own lines, pace etc.

To be honest, if you have a good aptitude for driving, and you are comfortable in your car, then any track with an instructor would be fine IMO.

I did my first trackday back in December and went with Bedford because of the space. Glad I did, now feeling more confident about other venues.

+1

I started at Brands OPL with two sessions with an instructor, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Listen to the instructor, watch your mirrors, put a 'novice sticker' at the back of your car and have fun!

i went straight to the nordschleife and then on lap 3 went straight into the gravel at brunchen... just take it easy wherever you chose but brands indy novice day ive done and it was very good and bedford is notorious for having lots of run off should you get a bit twisted up ect have fun but drive within your limits and ability and you should be fine wherever you go.

Airfield trackdays can be good value and someone like MSE offer reasonably priced tuition.
