Hi guys, I may be heading out to Cyprus at the end of the month for a week. Looking at probably taking my own bike, but may rent if anyone can personally recommend somewhere that has a good range of road bikes at reasonable prices.
If anyone has been did you have any must do roads or routes, there are a few on ridewithgps to use, but would like personal recommendations. I will be staying near Paphos on the West of the Island, so would prefer routes over this side.

It's been a while since I was there (10 years), and that wasn't cycling, but the area near Paphos is awash with roads that aren't really roads. More dirt tracks. I hired a dirt bike one time I went and a 4x4 another.
Things may have changed but I'd be more tempted to take a MTB than a road bike.

I would definitely take a mountain bike. Roads have improved a lot in recent years - but these are new motorways and A roads. Out in the villages the roads are as terrible as they ever were, and many aren't paved.
If you're near Pafos, I'd recommend you explore the Akamas Peninsula. It's mostly for walkers, but there are quite a few trails in the area you could cycle.

Good (from a selfish perspective) to know the roads remain "interesting".
The other thing I found when I was there is that the maps are very, erm, variable. Roads marked on one map aren't on another etc. It's hard to tell the standard of the road from the map to. I realised then when coming down a trail to find some retired types trying to navigate a hired hatchback down it - they do sump insurance for a reason!
So, I'd recommend you get a selection of maps to cover the bases.
