Here we go again: OPC Glasgow…
Discussion
Point of order first: I'm (really) a not a natural ranter who goes off at the least of real or imagined slights – my preference is always to deal with a problem quietly, through direct and calm discussion with the offending party to achieve a rational and acceptable solution, yada, yada…
Well, f
k it, I just wanted to get that out of the way as I now reach out to push the button that summons my Mk 43 Iron Man suit, to then leap skyward and nuke OPC Glasgow from orbit. This isn't my first rant on this particular subject, so please feel free at this point to head for the latest link to today's Lycra Bimbos from Outer Space or the cute Dancing Cat video of your choice.
I've had my 997.2 C2S for about 15 months now, and a fantastic piece of kit it is. The problem is that OPC Glasgow has a 100% track record in f
king up every single thing they've done to the car. The litany is far too long and boring to detail again here but today they managed to move, in a single bound, from merely unacceptably inept to dangerously incompetent.
I'd reluctantly gone back to them to have my winter wheels put on (only because they were already storing them and they owed me a new set of wheel centres). During the process they noticed a slight coolant weep from the hose between water pump and thermostat (unusually observant of them, I thought) so I booked it in for them to address this. It was supposed to be ready last Thursday but, when I phoned to check, they said that one of the new seals had failed and were waiting for a new part. So I finally picked the car up this evening and headed back home, along the rush-hour M8/M80, in a heavy snow storm. I was of course on a section of the road with no hard shoulder when the dash lit up with the coolant temperature light and the "Check coolant level" warning. So I put the hazards on and very slowly nursed the car the kilometer or so to the start of the hard shoulder, pulled over and shut down, with other vehicles weaving and honking around me, the gits.
Flipping the engine cover revealed a bone-dry coolant tank: I can only surmise that the new hose has let go and allowed the car to dump its entire coolant load, very rapidly (temperature was normal until just before the warning lights), on the road. I was only wearing a light fleece, so standing on a sodden and slush-covered verge whilst I phoned Porsche Assistance and then waited for the RAC was an hour-long exercise in being frozen and soaked - I could feel a cold coming on before this happened; I will probably have Bubonic Plague by the morning. Porsche Assistance took six minutes to answer the phone. They then put me on hold for another five whilst they tried to find my details. Fortunately the RAC guy who finally turned up couldn't have been more helpful and his truck had a very warm cab. Two hours later though, I'm still shivering.
I'll now see what fallout there is from the multiple warheads I'm currently preparing - in the meantime all I can do is reiterate my warning about allowing this bunch of muppets anywhere near your pride and joy: your health, well-being and blood pressure may be at significant risk.

Frustrating I know, but I suspect that what's actually happened is the cooling system hasn't been bled properly after the seal/hose renewal.
There'll most likely have been an air lock in the system. With you having driven the car and got it properly hot and got the coolant circulating, the airlock has gone and the coolant level has dropped accordingly.
No matter, the system should have been bled properly in the first place. In my experience having run the car up to temperature after any coolant repair it's best to let it cool down overnight and re-check the level the following morning.

That was the first thing that crossed my mind, but they've had the car an extra three days anyway and mileage suggests they'd done a long enough test drive to have that appear if it were going to. Will find out tomorrow…There'll most likely have been an air lock in the system. Decent rant but lack of swearing means only 6/10
Sorry, will try better as the thread develops: I started composing a post in the RAC truck but thought that several paragraphs extemporising on the theme of "you c**k-s**king motherf
kers!" would get a tad tedious. I may yet arrive at that point…Go in person to complain - one of my brothers was thrown out of an Audi dealership during his rant, after the wiper blades they'd 'fitted' blew away when he turned the wipers on - at full pelt on the motorway.
The service manager said he was upsetting the other customers, to which he replied, 'That's what I'm trying to do.'
Dress up as Rab C Nesbitt for extra effect!

Good for him - these buggers need their smug complacency shaken at every possible opportunity. Funny isn't it, how those with the least to be smug or complacent about are the ones who most resent having it challenged? The service manager said he was upsetting the other customers, to which he replied, 'That's what I'm trying to do.'

And I don't need to dress up to look like Rab C Nesbitt…

And only minimal threats of violence....not a patch on your video of bad overtaking rant in the Scotland section.
Careful of your stress levels mate!!
Thanks - I'm actually OK, as I'm currently become very good at channeling the energy of furious indignation into highly directed retribution with minimal collateral damage Careful of your stress levels mate!!

Well I guess the mileage could be seen as the sign of a full and thorough roadtest, but you're making the assumption the mileage was added after the repair was carried out .......

Those extra three days weren't spent working on the car I'd wager. More likely someone forgot to contact you to tell you the car was ready for collection .......

Gee, thanks for the reassurance - that makes me feel a whole lot better… Well I guess the mileage could be seen as the sign of a full and thorough roadtest, but you're making the assumption the mileage was added after the repair was carried out .......

You'll know what I mean when you hear it! Think of your OPC as 'Flaming Dragon'.

This looks hopeful, in the service delivery stakes.
I'm moving from across the road; lomond audi, whose service delivery on my R8 has been beyond shocking. Im picking up a turbo in a week or so thus delighted to know that i will be set for another spleen-venting relationship.
Maybe the OP and I could go halfers on a bed sheet.
He can paint the nice words as i revert to type and will introduce all the sexual swearwords i can.

Dajjy, good luck! Cars are fantastic, I've no problem with the sales guys at all but the service department just beggars belief. There's an empty lot opposite the entrance to Porsche Glasgow - I'm thinking of a very large billboard...I'm moving from across the road; lomond audi, whose service delivery on my R8 has been beyond shocking.
